The El Chico story began when Adelaida Cuellar’s homemade tamales drew huge crowds
at the Kaufman County Fair in 1926. In 1940 the Cuellar brothers took their mother’s
famous recipes and opened the doors to the first El Chico Restaurant in Dallas,Texas.
Today, El Chico Restaurants can be found throughout the southern United States.
The Cuellar’s recipes, work ethic and determination can still be found in the kitchen.
