Advocacy Policy
INTRODUCTION
121 Care will encourage clients to utilize an advocate of their choice to ensure that
they receive the best possible service. An advocate can be a relative, friend,
neighbours or someone from an advocacy service.
PURPOSE
To offer each client the opportunity to nominate an advocate, accept the involvement
of an advocate of the client’s choice whenever this is their wish and inform clients of
the availability of such assistance.
POLICY
All clients and potential clients may choose to involve an advocate to represent his or
her interest at any time as accepted practice by 121 Care.
o
Verbally recommend a new client’s right to have someone represent their
interests and help them with complaints, disputes or any aspect of service
delivery
o
Recommend existing client’s, through documentation, of their rights and
advocacy services in their area
o
Inform existing client’s that information is available through 121 Care’s website
o
121 Care keeps a register of agencies that provide advocacy services
.
