CUCUMBER WHALES & CANOES
INGREDIENTS
12 Cucumbers
60 Grape or Cherry Tomatoes
24 Tbsp Fresh Mozzarella or Hummus 180 Black Sesame Seeds
DIRECTIONS
•
Slice the cucumber so that there are two pieces - one
large piece that is 3/4 of the cucumber and one piece that
is 1/4. Start with slicing the larger piece down the center
vertically. One half of this will be your canoe.
• Spoon the seeds out and fill the cavity with mozzarella
or hummus. • To prepare the tomato people you will need the toothpick
and sesame seeds. Pierce the tomatoes to make eyes and
a mouth and fill the holes with sesame seeds.
• Place the tomato people in the canoe.
• For the paddle, cut a slice out of the 1/4 piece of cucumber.
Cut the slice in half, cut out the middle so only the green
outer layer is left and place on each side of the canoe.
• For the whale you will need the remainder of the 3/4 piece
of cucumber. For the body of the whale, slice the cucumber
in half. The rounded half will be the whale’s head, and the
other piece the tail. For the tail, cut a triangle out of one end to
make the flipper and two more triangles, one on each lengthwise
side to create the bottom of the tail. Pierce the cucumber whale’s
head with the toothpick to create eyes and then attach the head
and tail together with the toothpick.
• Enjoy this imaginative, fun snack.

KIWI APPLE KITTENS
INGREDIENTS
12 Apple Slices
12 Kiwi Slices
1 Celery Stalk
12 Raspberries
1 Carrot
Chocolate Sauce
Greek Yogurt or Cream Cheese
Some Lemon Juice
DIRECTIONS
• Cut the apple horizontally through the center then cut again to make a
thin slice. Remove any core if necessary. Make sure there is a small hole
in the middle. Put lemon juice on the slice to keep it from browning.
• Slice a very thin, long strip from the carrot to form a tail, which you will
thread through the hole in the center of the apple through the bottom
(plate side). Leave an inch or so on top of the apple slice.
• Put cream cheese or yogurt on top of the apple slice, making sure to
cover the tail so it will adhere.
• Cut the kiwi through the center then cut again to make a thin slice. Peel
the outer skin off. Place the kiwi slice on top of the cream cheese/yogurt
on the apple slice.
• Use part of the leftover apple to cut two triangles to form ears, then
place them adjacent to the kiwi round on top of the apple slice. If
needed, use some cream cheese or yogurt to adhere the ears to the
apple.
• Slice six very thin, long strips from the celery to form whiskers, which
you will place in the center of the kiwi.
• Cut the raspberry in two and use one half for the “nose.” Once again,
if needed, use some cream cheese or yogurt to adhere the nose to the
kiwi and the whiskers.
• Cut the celery crosswise and place them under the “head”
to make paws.
• Use more cream cheese/yogurt
to make eyeballs then add a bit of
chocolate (with a clean paintbrush,
for example) to the center to form
the eyes.
• Take photos, post on Instagram
before eating! ;)
