I know the weather hasn’t been real springlike for Sunny Southern California but I hear, as this goes to press, that we have a fantastic weekend coming up. This is the weekend for the Riverside Show and Go. This is one of the best shows in the area and only barely topped by Route 66 Rendezvous… But certainly not in cost. The Show and Go is only one day shorter and much lower in cost. By the time you receive this newsletter it will be over. Hope you got to enjoy it. This month’s recipe comes from a cookbook written by Justin Wilson. This was his second effort written in 1979 and followed his first by 14 years. My Grandmother gave me his first in 1969 when I was in Louisiana for my grandparents 50th Wedding anniversary. Justin Wilson was barely known outside of the state at the time. These are the best biscuits you ever tasted and really easy to make. I made some last night before deciding to include the recipe in this month’s Valley Vairs. The reason I’m doing the cooking here is that Diane is Chicago due to a family emergency and will probably be gone for at least a month. I’ll be fine… Please, however, pray for our 3 cats as they may not survive a month of my care. At the April General Meeting an increase in IECC annual dues, to $24 per year was passed. Dues will be due in June. I’ll have signup sheet at the May General Meeting for Snacks and Drinks for the rest of 2010. Diane and Tim Tim Martha’s Beer Biscuits 2 Cups Bisquick 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Green Onions 1/2 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese 2 TBS Shortening Beer Mix together The Bisquick, Onion and Cheese. Cut the shortening into the mixture, and add enough beer to make the dough stiff. Turn out onto a Bisquick covered board. Knead a few times and cut into individual biscuits. Bake at 450 Deg until browned. Thanks to the late Justin Wilson for this one. We enjoy these frequently because they are GREAT!
