Northern New Jersey Bridges to the Baccalaureate
is Now Recruiting!
By 2018, New Jersey will need to fill approximately 269,000 jobs
in STEM-related fields.
Union County College was recently awarded a Bridges to the Baccalaureate (B2B)
grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support students from
underrepresented backgrounds in their completion of Associate degrees in Science,
Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and transfer to four-year institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
• Comprehensive support in completing a STEM
degree and transferring to a four-year institution
• Major or intend to major in a non-medical science
STEM major
• Paid Research Experiences—A select number of
Union County College B2B scholars are eligible for
summer- and semester-long work experiences in the
faculty labs at four-year institutions
• Commit to graduate within two to three years
• Paid Leadership Experiences/Campus Jobs—
Positions include Program Ambassador, Web Master,
Social Media Coordinator, Departmental Liaison,
Career Events Assistant, etc.
• Mentoring from students and faculty at
Union County College and participating four-year
institutions
• Group Activities—Trips to college campuses for
campus tours, lectures and research conferences;
career-related programs and worksite tours
• Available to participate in B2B activities
• Willing to support fellow students in their
academic success
• Desire to contribute to the mission and program
goals of broadening diversity in STEM
