The User Experience
The Skin Ad is a static canvas that replaces the background of the page below the navigation bar with seamless
Advertiser branding. The Skin Ad is offered to Microsoft Advertisers via our partnership with leading Rich Media
providers (see list below under Certified Rich Media Vendors).
The Skin Ad is fully visible by default. Upon user initiated collapse, the Skin Ad remains collapsed for the remainder of
the day. The Skin Ad returns to default fully visible mode the next day.

It is up to the Advertiser to ensure that the creative design elements (such as text) are of sufficient size to be
acceptable when scaled to fit a smaller ad dimension.
On user scroll, the ad should scroll with the page.
Bleeding into content is not allowed.
The Skin must include ‘X Hide Ad’ button in the language the ad will be served allowing the user to hide the
ad unit. By clicking on “X Hide Ad”, the entire Skin ad should hide.
If the user closes the Skin ad, the standard IAB Leave-behind will display an 88x31px “Show Ad” icon in the
language the ad will be served when the Skin Ad is hidden. The width of the Leave -behind may be slightly
larger to accommodate the language characters used.
It’s recommended that the “X Hide Ad” and “Show Ad” buttons have a color background so they are legible
over any page background. It is recommended that the buttons be located right justified to the page content
in the upper 150px ad space so that they always appear regardless of the page column view.
Click destination URL must open in a new browser.
Z-index of <30000 is required so the service bar and mega menu do not drop behind the ad.
Device Information:



Windows 8 tablets (such as Microsoft Surface devices) support Flash. The resolution of these devices varies,
but should support a full 3-column and 4-column experience in IE.
All iOS devices (iPad or iPhone) DO NOT support Flash; therefore only downlevel images are supported.
Resolution of iOS devices also varies, but should support a full 3-colum or 4-column experience in Safari 7 or
later.
Android devices vary on resolution and capability. These are more closely aligned to the Mobile ecosystem,
and may not support Flash ads. Downlevel image will most likely serve in this scenario.
Note: The above scenarios are device limitations, not site or Vendor limitations.
