From the Senior Warden
Much is happening at All Saints. Construction, soccer, new mower
and windows and the list goes on and on. But as a congregation we
cannot lose sight of why we are here. The Rev. Elsie Astleford gave
us a Biblical Introduction to the Holy Spirit in May that has helped
me to stay focused on the Holy Spirit. I particularly resonated with
several of the Bible verses she mentioned, but it was her question at
the end, “How do you know God?” that caused me pause.
Growing up in the church in the sixties, my journey was always
questioning. I studied many religions, read the Bible, the Koran and sought information on
the beliefs of Jews, Native Americans, Hindu and several others. What I realized recently that
through all that rebellion and searching, I used Christian bookmarks. God knew me. He was
on the journey with me, He strengthened my Christian beliefs every time.
A favorite bookmark “The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation.
He is my God and I will praise Him” Exodus 15:2
Spend time with this question “How do you know God?” your thoughts and prayers will
amaze.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
BUSINESS
As I indicated, a lot is going on over the next few months. Your Junior Warden will be very
busy coordinating all the projects. We hope to have some type of celebration when all is done.
So put your thinking caps on and let me know your great ideas. Soccer is over and we successfully distributed our flyers inviting them to our summer picnics. We will develop a new
theme for the fall. As your Bishop's Committee continues to work on sustainability issues,
with a goal of hiring a new Vicar, I invite you to sit down with me to discuss the issues any
Sunday. Martha Stephenson will be working with our Worship Leaders and others to make
our Morning Prayer vibrant and consistent. Please see her if you have ideas.
FINANCE
We still have not received the grant money and revised loan documents from the diocese so we
wait. Financials are posted in the office if you wish to review or question.
Faithfully your Senior Warden, Vicki

SAINTS’ ALIVE!
HALOS
•
To Martha for organizing and leading our Wednesday Evening Study Group
from September through May. It has been a challenge and joy to study the
Franciscan “Alternative Orthodoxy."
• To Roxanne for leading the Wednesday Evening Study in June. We explored some practices
found in other religions and how they can enrich our walk with Christ, increase understanding
of others and help us to contribute to a better world.
• To John S. for overseeing everything from the PUD construction to toilet repairs.
• To Derick and Elizabeth Scovel for donating a beautiful green marble conference table and
chairs to the church. Take a peek into the Vicar’s Office to admire it.
Babies In Need
Serving Needy Newborns in Southwest Washington
~with car seats, layettes, portable cribs, and love.
We just received our first email thank you note from a mom:
Dear Friends at Babies In Need,
I just had my daughter on Monday and was given a gift [layette pack] from Babies in Need. I saw the
yellow card and thought I would email you and save a stamp! Lol
I loved the package. It was stressful the last day at the hospital and my husband and I really enjoyed
being able to bring Erin home and go through the goodies we received. :)
Erin is doing wonderful and so am I. I love being a mom. It's the best feeling in the world.
I can use all the prayers I can get! My family is myself, Erin and my husband.
Once again, thank you very much for the package. Everything was adorable and I read the spring
book about bunnies to Erin last night.
Sincerely, [signed]
Please pray for this family and all families who receive our layettes and car seats. Every
month after we assemble layettes we pray for the little ones and their families who will
receive them. We also pray for our donors of in-kind gifts and cash gifts. There are so many
people who make this ministry happen!
Next layette assembly day: Monday, July 13th at 2 pm.
Blessings,
Kitty Ash
