LA ESCUELA DE DISEÑO
La Escuela de Diseño es un centro de estudios de impacto mundial, pionero en la enseñanza del arte y diseño en
la República Dominicana. Desde su origen ha ofrecido
programas elaborados bajo un currículo educativo que
estimula el desarrollo de las habilidades creativas y
pensamiento crítico. Afiliada desde 1982 a la prestigiosa
institución Parsons School of Design, La Escuela se caracteriza por ofrecer a sus estudiantes las herramientas
necesarias para desarrollarse en las áreas del arte y diseño a nivel mundial.
Su visión es crear un espacio no solo de disciplina y fomentar la buena ética de trabajo, pero al mismo tiempo
hacer sentir a los estudiantes con la libertad de encontrar y aferrarse a su voz propia, enseñándoles a expresar
esta de la mejor manera posible.
Chavón – Vive el arte y el diseño en un lugar donde las
ideas cobran vida.
La primera semana se centra en los temas y conceptos
básicos de diseño, el dibujo y la interpretación visual.
Durante la segunda y tercera semana los estudiantes
estarán totalmente inmersos en su área de interés,
aprendiendo de profesionales y visitando estudios y exhibiciones relevantes a su enfoque de estudio.
EL CONCURSO
La Escuela de Diseño invita a estudiantes de secundaria a participar en un concurso con la finalidad para
ganar una beca para el programa Verano Pre-Universitario. Dicho programa busca expandir sus horizontes y
conocimientos en el arte y diseño, así como presenciar
contacto con otras culturas en un ambiente cercano a
la naturaleza. Mediante este concurso, los participantes
se encontrarán con desafíos y/o encuestas que deberán
resolver a lo mejor de sus capacidades para entonces enviar su aplicación con la esperanza de destacarse sobre
los demás concursantes.
¿QUIÉN PUEDE APLICAR A ESTE CONCURSO?
El concurso está abierto a cualquier estudiante de secundaria del mundo interesado en aplicar a el programa Pre-Universitario de La Escuela de Diseño Altos de Chavón.
•Edad mínima: 14
•Edad máxima: 18
•Estudiantes motivados y responsables que anhelen
estar inmersos en un programa de arte y diseño a nivel
universitario.
•Estudiantes que deseen compartir con otros participantes de intereses similares.
LA VILLA DE ALTOS DE CHAVÓN:
Ubicado al sudeste de la República Dominicana, en el ambiente natural bordeado por el icónico Río Chavón, Altos de
Chavón fue fundado en 1976 como un centro dinámico de
arte multidisciplinario. Este ambiente pintoresco estimula
la creatividad artística del estudiante al igual que inspirar
un espacio de tranquilidad y en contacto con la naturaleza.
Su edificios de ladrillo y piedras de coral acogen estudios de
arte, talleres artesanales, galerías, tiendas y restaurantes.
¿EN QUÉ CONSISTE EL VERANO
PRE-UNIVERSITARIO?
Es un programa educativo y recreativo de tres semanas que promueve el aprendizaje y la exploración para
jóvenes adolescentes de 14 a 17 años.
Los participantes podrán seleccionar entre tres áreas de enfoque: Diseño de Moda, Fotografía y Diseño de Comunicación.
¿POR QUÉ APLICAR?
•Para vivir la experiencia de estudiar arte, diseño,
moda, fotografía y comunicación en una de las escuelas
de arte y diseño más reconocidas a nivel mundial.
•Para obtener una experiencia pre-universitaria en el
tema que te interesa estudiar.
•Para desarrollar habilidades mediante trabajos de nivel
universitario.
•Para ir desarrollando trabajos para tu portafolio ante
tu eventual admisión en la Universidad
•Para conocer otros estudiantes en un ambiente internacional, que comparten los mismos intereses que tu
•Para presenciar la vida a nivel universitaria.

The School of Design is an educational global impact,
a pioneer in the teaching of art and design in the Dominican Republic. Since its foundation it has offered
programs created under an educational curriculum that
stimulates the development of creative and critical
thinking skills. Affiliated since 1982 to the prestigious
institution Parsons School of Design, The School is characterized by offering the necessary tools for students
to develop globally in the areas of art and design.
The School’s vision is based on creating a space that foments discipline and great work ethics, as well as making
students feel free to find and hold on to their own voice,
teaching them to express it in the best way possible.

THE ALTOS DE CHAVÓN VILLA:
Located southeast of the Dominican Republic, in the
natural environment bordered by the iconic Chavon River, Altos de Chavón was founded in 1976 as a dynamic
multidisciplinary arts center. This unique atmosphere
encourages the students’ artistic creativity as well as
offering a space of tranquility and contact with nature.
Its brick buildings and coral stonewalls are home to
art studios, handicraft workshops, galleries, shops and
restaurants.
WHAT DOES THE PRE-COLLEGE SUMMER
PROGRAM CONSIST OF?
It’s a three-week educational and recreational program
that promotes learning and exploration for adolescents
between the ages of 14-17 years.
The first week focuses on the issues and basic concepts
of design, drawing and visual interpretation. During the
second and third week students will be fully immersed in
their area of interest, learning from professionals as well
as visiting studios and exhibits relevant to their study
approach.
THE CONTEST
The School of Design invites high school students to participate in a contest in order to win a scholarship to the
Pre-College Summer Program. This program seeks to
expand the students’ horizons and knowledge in art and
design as well as witness contact with other cultures in
an environment close to nature. Through this competition,
participants will encounter challenges and/or surveys to
be resolved to the best of their abilities. Then, an application to the contest must be submitted in the hopes of
standing out amongst the other contestants.
WHO CAN APPLY TO THIS CONTEST?
The contest is open to any high school student interested in applying to the Altos de Chavón School of Design
Pre-College Summer Program.
•Minimum age: 14
•Maximum age: 18
•Motivated and responsible students who are eager to be
immersed in a college level art and design program.
•Students who desire to partake with other individuals
with similar interests.
WHY APPLY?
•To experience studying art, design, fashion,
photography and communication in one of the most
globally recognized schools of art and design.
•For a pre-college experience in the topic you are
interested in studying.
•To develop skills through college-level work.
•To work and develop the portfolio that you will
eventually send with your college application.

who share the same interests as you do.
•To experience life on a college level.

Communications Design.
