Following the popularity and success of previous concerts we are pleased to announce the sixth “annual series” of Music in Saint Mary’s, Alveley. With your support we shall continue to make these splendid musical evenings a regular feature in Saint Mary’s Church. The church is a wonderful concert venue, both aurally and visually, and we in the church give live music our wholehearted and enthusiastic support. We hope this will always make St Mary’s a very welcoming place for performers and audiences alike. A member of the National Association of Choirs, their repertoire ranges from Verdi's "La Donna E Mobile” to classic rock such as Queen's "Somebody to Love". As a youngster, Sarah travelled Europe in a caravan with her Mother's touring Country/Rock band. Her violin playing has evolved as a result of this bohemian upbringing and she has developed a style of improvisation that is uniquely fluid and expressive. SATURDAY 25th APRIL 7.30pm The Coleman String Quartet SATURDAY 18TH JULY 7.30pm The Alveley Village Band 25th Anniversary Concert Based in the West Midlands the Coleman String Quartet is in great demand, playing regularly at weddings and functions. They will charm and delight us with a variety of light classical and popular quartet arrangements. A unique concert to celebrate the band’s 25 year history. The Alveley Village Band has played a very important part in the musical life of the village since it was created by Colin Jones MBE in 1990. We are delighted to include this celebratory event in our concert series this year. flute, oboe, violin, cello and harpsichord Glorious chamber music of the Baroque period played superbly by Charlton Baroque, a Shropshire based group. Experience music of the late 17th and early 18th Centuries played by candlelight in the beautiful setting of Saint Mary’s. SUNDAY 13th DECEMBER 7.00pm Alveley Village Band and The Alveley Singers present A Christmas Concert Christmas in Alveley would not be complete without the traditional concert given in the church by these two popular local groups. Mulled wine and mince pies during the interval will add to the festive cheer.
