Great job by all! Finally spring is here, the geese are back and one can hear the occasional call of the ducks flying overhead looking for their prospective places to nest and raise those ducklings and goslings. Already farmers are delivering calves within their farms. I’ve seen pussy willows from the trees and I’ve already seen fresh shoots of grass starting to emerge from mother earth. Wow, it is so much warmer now that the sun is out and the days are getting longer with each passing moment. April 24, 2015 we will commence to have a welcoming ceremony for all this change with a Spring Feast that will be held here at the school. “Tansi Kakiyaw Nitotemak ” “Hello all my relations” Just for your information we begin each day in ceremony here at the school with sacred songs that acknowledge life from the Creator. Therefore nothing to do with death or the passing of loved ones, although there are special songs about that. We also acknowledge education, new learnings in life as a gift from the Creator, and how wonderful it is that we have a memory that enables us to think, make choices, have visions, and the ability to remember good things in life, especially relationship in a sacred way of giving and receiving. We acknowledge the spirit of song how it moves us and the importance of mother earth and our own mothers. This is why we always sing in the morning so that we can reflect on the precious gift of life and the sacredness of relationship. 7 PAGE 7 2015 Eagle Cup Thanks to all for helping out with the Floor Hockey Tournament. Becky coordinating the concession, Taro with the technology, photography and sound, Larry & Lloyd with the lunch, Karen with the supervision, Charleen with finances and Francis & Lyle with opening ceremonies; you all did a great job, and it wouldn't have been possible without you. The kids all had a great time and the visiting schools were very thankful to be a part of the event. Of course, many kids like Joey and Talon stepped up along with the leadership group to make everything run smooth and seamless. The end result was that amiskwaciy took home the bronze, Florence Hallock with Silver, and Steele Heights with the gold. Students you are into the final quarter so I encourage you to attend school on a regular schedule and to do the best you can. From personal experience I have found that success is obtained by commitment, believing in yourself, and applying the work and the effort in order to be successful in whatever you choose to do. Good luck with your grades!
