George Harter will welcome you in the Barrymore Suite at the Algonquin for private check-in and refreshments. George will be happy to book your airfare for you and car service is available on request for airport transportation, (see registration). Tonight your wit and conversation will be a little sharper as we meet over cocktails and a three-course dinner at the ALGONQUIN ROUND TABLE, just off the lobby of the hotel. After dinner, you will have orchestra or front mezz. seats for our first Broadway theater outing; the TONY AWARD winning ALLADIN at the historic NEW AMSTERDAM THEATER. THURSDAY: This morning George takes you on a walking tour of Broadway, tracing the footsteps of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Irving Berlin and many Broadway greats of past and present. Afterward, join George in the Barrymore suite for refreshments and a visit from cast members from one of our Broadway shows. his evening you will have orchestra or front mezzanine seats to see Jessica Mueller in Beautiful, the Tony Award winning show that follows the rise of Carole King and her songs that defined a generation. From “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” to “Locomotion”, “I Feel The Earth Move”, “You’ve Got a Friend” and “Its Too Late”, you won’t be able to stop humming the wide range of songs she wrote beginning in 1958. A graduate of Columbia University, Debora is head of restoring the historic Fifth Avenue Armory. Private coach transportation provided. Tonight we’ll see the surprise hit at the Tony Awards last June: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. This hilarious and very tuneful show recaptures the flavor of Gilbert & Sullivan with typical British humor that would make John Cleese proud. SATURDAY: Plan your own day in New York. Perhaps take in the Saturday matinee of The Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys, Wicked or The Lion King if you haven’t seen one of these popular Broadway shows. Today is free until we celebrate our time together with cocktails and threecourse dinner with wine pairing at The Grand Tier. You will be dining beneath the giant Chagall paintings at the metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. After dinner we’ll see the new production of THE KING & I with Keli O’hara. You will even have time for a service at St. Patrick’s Cathedral nearby, or enjoy the famous choir of men & boys at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Fifth Ave. Check-out time is 12 Noon.
