Foundation Stage
In FS, the children have had a visit from Aliens from
Outer Space…...
Year 1
Y1 have used a Strip Design programme in ICT and have also
written colour poetry.
Year 2
It’s all been about the SATs this week.
Year 3
The children have been making robot animations.
Year 4
It’s been electrifying in Y4 – the classes have investigated
electrical circuits. They have also written limericks.
Year 5
Cudworth have baked bread and Hemsworth have
planted seeds for their Acre Beds.
Year 6
Just like Y2 it has all been about the SATs this week
but the children did also have a little après SATs party.
Other news
The school has been making decisions about the new features to be erected
on the field and also the orchard has been planted. We intend to dedicate this
orchard to Mrs Spencer, our previous school cook who sadly died a few
months ago.
Phew! What a busy ‘enjoying the growing season’ kind of school!
Last week’s Mrs Robinson’s Pop Feedback
We asked you: This is a tricky one – please don’t be offended. There are just 3 things that we can’t have in the
school grounds. We don’t have any problems with people complying with number 3 but we still have issues with
numbers 1 and 2 despite reminders and even personal messages. What do you think of this fact?
1. Dogs – this is actually by law rather than school rule.
2. Children of any age riding on scooters and bikes for obvious safety reasons.
3. Smoking – even e-cigarettes - this is again by law.
We had 12 replies. Thank you so much to those people for taking the time to respond.
There are some strong opinions out there. It’s evident to those who replied, that the three rules are good common
sense ones for obvious health and safety reasons. A few of the replies felt that there is an attitude issue in that some
people will always respect the rules and some people just won’t, no matter how many times or how nicely I ask them
to! Most responses acknowledged that ignoring numbers 1 or 2 could easily result in an injury of an adult or child, but
also, that we have a responsibility to teach our children right from wrong and sometimes that just means doing the right
thing for the right reasons, no matter how inconvenient it may be.
I’m a dog lover. I have two at home and am shortly getting a third so I have nothing against dogs in general. However,
I can see the sense in not having dogs in the playground or tied to the inside of the fence and with it being a legal
issue, I must comply.
These responses seem to sum up the general feeling:
“These all make sense to me. I also think the school is very clean and tidy (no litter) and we should all take
responsibility to keep it that way.”
“I don’t understand why people can’t comply with simple rules. It is obvious they are there for safety reasons.”
Also mentioned in reply slips / something to think about – children standing / blocking gate and pathways in the
Junior Playground – we want to encourage bike / scooter riding but just dismount at the gate! – maybe the PCSO
should speak to parents – also worried about children not wearing helmets on scooter / bike rides – children do need
to be able to interact with animals generally.

A message about SATs.
The staff want to say thank you
to all of the Y2 and Y6 children.
They’ve been sensible,
hardworking, fairly cheerful (!)
and extremely accommodating
of all the necessary changes to
their routine on the run up to
this SATs week. They’ve coped
extremely well and although it’s
difficult to predict the results,
the children did us proud with
their attitude, confidence and
knowledge.
For the next couple of weeks
we are also formally assessing
the other year groups.
