The Aviva Community Fund provides funding for local causes put forward by their brokers. On 24th April an application was submitted on behalf of ARCOS by Ben Dale of Jelf Clarke Roxburgh. SMILE benefits children who are disabled or disadvantaged and their families. The introduction of dancing is changing lives but we urgently need more space to dance. When SMILE started in 2013, our plans did not include dance. It quickly became apparent that a number of the children longed to be able to join a dance class but were unable to meet some - or sometimes any, of the demands in a mainstream dancing class. The challenge to maintain attention, cope with the social situation and achieve the required level of movement and coordination was just too much. It was decided to start up a dance class with a difference at SMILE. It has been truly wonderful to see the increase in skills, confidence and self-esteem of the girls and boys who attend and the way in which their families support them and each other. Your support will make all the difference. Samantha Jones SMILE Project Leader at ARCOS
