The students have had a lot on this term with school photos, Pink Stumps day, Vaccinations and the school swimming carnival. The class attends option classes within the high school such as woodwork, P.E. and Art. The students need to be commended for using their diaries as a means of keeping up the communication between the school and home and also for managing their busy schedules. A big congratulations goes out to Joseph Rose, who was elected as Student Councillor. He is a kind and considerate young gentleman who has taken on the responsibilities in his stride. I just know he will be a great representative for our class. We have a new and exciting addition to the class 'Nip' the crazy crab. He is settling in very well and has many new friends looking out for him. The teaching staff in the room Deputy Principal, Ms Keals and Ms Pritchard enjoyed meeting all the parents and caregivers this past week during the Individual Education Planning (IEP) meetings. We are available to have a chat about your child and let us know how we can support you, and them, into the future We started term one with great energy and I was delighted to see the enthusiasm going on even in Week 4. All MS2 students have settled into their class and are very much aware of the classroom rules and class routine. It’s been amazing to see everyone so well focused during class. While the focus is still on I have started exposing students to some NAPLAN questions and students have been working in their groups and as a class in solving these questions. They are certainly making progress and we are all ready to strive. This year we have added 2 new subject to our timetable, Art and Metalwork. They always have lots to share after these classes, which is very exciting. Besides, we have four surfing lessons at Trigg Beach planned for this term as part of our Bush Rangers. The students are having an exhausting and thrilling time surfing in the hot summer. They have certainly upgraded their surfing skills from last year. Thank you to all parents who attended the IEP meeting and I am glad it all went according to plan. Your time and commitment towards your child’s education is really appreciated. Support and nurture your child so that we can bring the best of them. Mrs Kannan Class Teacher Welcome back to all of our students in year 9/10 in MS3. A big welcome to Byron Roberts, who joins us from Cannington Community College ESC. This term for Bush Rangers we have been going surfing at Trigg Beach. Two students, Kiralee and Page, both got to ride their surfboards standing up on medium sized waves. We have been very lucky to have Mr Singh teaching us metal work. We completed a spinner, and we are making a tool box to keep our projects safe. In music lessons with Ms Fenwick, we are forming a band with a singer, guitars, drums, and keyboards. We can’t wait to attend their first concert. During gardening we cleared the weeds, overgrown, and dead plants and fed and looked after the worm farms. We have had a very busy start to the year. Mrs Jenkins Class Teacher Currently our students are engaged in a variety of different programs around the school: In mainstream our students participate in Music and Physical Education. Certain individual year 10 students participate in Math, English and Science In class we have started our Preliminary English and Math, Direct Instruction, Work Studies, Keys for Life and Art programs. The year 11 and 12 students have already completed 3 weeks of Work Experience in variety of places. We have found this program gives students the chance to try out different jobs and also gives them a taste of workplace environments. In the past many students have gained part time jobs from their placements, and traineeships. Bush Ranger outings are still popular among staff and students as they give students the opportunities to learn new skills, which in turn are incorporated into our everyday classroom life. This term we are looking forward to our students participating in outings to CREEC, Recycling Centre and Kings Park. The purpose of this program is to develop awareness of our environment, confidence, and also appropriate behaviour within the community. If you have any questions regarding our programs, please do not hesitate to call. Kind Regards, Magda Jesionek Senior Teacher A big THANK YOU, to the staff and students from Armadale Senior High School and Armadale Education Support Centre, for your support for this day on Friday 20 March.
