ANNOUNCEMENT
2015 ASN Canada FIA Canadian Time Attack
Championship Event Awarded
Mississauga, Ontario – April 19, 2015
ASN Canada FIA has announced that the ASN Canada FIA Canadian
Time Attack Championship presented by Toyo Tires will return to
Atlantic Motorsport Park on Labour Day weekend (September 4-6,
2015), organized by Atlantic Region Motor Sports (ARMS) under the
stewardship of Jason Smith.
“After a several year absence from the National Calendar, ASN Canada
FIA is pleased that, the Canadian Time Attack Championship event will
be held later this year,” said Terry Epp, chairman of ASN Canada FIA's
National SoloSport Committee. “With the support of ASN National
SoloSport championships’ presenting sponsor, Toyo Tires Canada Ltd.,
we are looking forward to, once again, visiting the Atlantic region.”
“The last time the Canadian Time Attack Championship was held in
Atlantic Motorsport Park was in 2009. The track is an 11 turn, 2.5 km
road course challenge that competitors will enjoy. The highlight of the
event will be the crowning of the 2015 overall Canadian Time Attack
champion. The event organizing committee is already hard at work in
preparing for this event.”
Jason Smith said, “We're excited to have the Canadian Time Attack
Championship back at AMP. The track has recently undergone major
repairs and we're looking forward to using the fresh pavement. We have
fierce competition in this region and we expect this event to attract
competitors from other parts of Canada and the Eastern US."
Matthew Trivett, a member of the organizing committee said, “We are
thrilled to be able to host the event. I've always considered AMP to be
the hidden gem of the Maritimes as it is a very technical track that
provides numerous challenges for drivers. With constant elevation

changes, blind apex's and the extremely fun undulation of our ‘roller
coaster’; the track is fun for all competitors, but it certainly rewards
disciplined driving. Momentum is the name of the game at this track!"
The event will be open to Time Attack competitors from across Canada
and the United States and the organizers are indicating that plans call
for a lot of track time so competitors will have time to learn the track
and dial in their vehicles before the competition portions begin where,
once again, they will experience the extended track times to set their
best times on both days of competition.
Canadian Time Attack Championship Fast Facts:
The ASN Canadian Time Attack Championship was created by the ASN
National SoloSport Committee to provide an opportunity to for those
SoloSport competitors in Time Attack to have their own Canadian
championship. The first ‘CTAC’ championship was held in 2005 at
Ontario’s Shannonville race track. For the next four years, the event ran
at different race tracks in eastern Canada: 2006 at Ste Eustache race
track in Quebec, 2007 at Mosport and 2008 at Calabogie Motorsports
Park in Ontario and then at Atlantic Motorsport Park, Nova Scotia in
2009. In 2011, the event ran again at Mosport. (For 2010, 2012, 2013
and 2014, the championship was not held.)
