Happy New Year!! The Quilted Corner is happy to welcome you to it’s new “Kansas Troubles” fabric
and patterns themed Quilt Club. The meeting times are the same as the old Thimbleberries Club.
Meetings will last about an hour and are full of demonstrations, helpful hints, and inspiration. There
will be times for Show and Tell and encouragement. Members will receive a 10% discount on all
purchases on the day of the meeting. Join anytime during the year.

come have some fun. Five meals will be prepared by the staff of NRC and the sleeping
arrangements are dorm style. Tables will be
set up for all night sewing marathons.
Starting this spring we will be offering a class on
McKenna’s new block of the month, Snow Buds.
This series features whimsical snowmen using
Hoffman Batiks. Spring may not be the time for
snowmen but you will have a completed quilt by
the time snow flies next winter.

Block of the Month
Embroidery/Quilting project
Instructor: Erma Parkins
“Sweet Stitches” includes 12 separate monthly patterns. Each pattern has a designed 10” embroidery piece
surrounded by a simple 2” pieced border. To add a touch to the embroidery the patterns also include a Fabric
Accent piece which has been designed by Kathy’s original watercolor paintings. These pieces can be fused or
appliquéd onto your quilt.
Cost of the pattern and Class is $10.00 per month.

Thangles Buck-A-Block™
Our Series 10 for Thangles started last October, but it is not too late to start. The
quilt is on display at the QC. Joining is easy-Just sign up, choose your fabric and
receive the first kit. Come into the store anytime during the month to receive your
next kits for only $1.00 each. Our meeting dates in 2014 will be on Saturdays January 18, April 5, and October 11@ 10:30am. Bring in the blocks you have completed
for show and tell. If you have 3 blocks done prior to each meeting, you will be eligible to enter the drawing for a $25 gift certificate to be awarded at the last meeting
in October.
Block of the Month
“Wind in the Whiskers” by McKenna Ryan
Cute kittens and curious cats meet fluttering birds, blissful butterflies, a school of koi, and one very brave chipmunk in
this new design by McKenna Ryan. Blending new prints with rich batiks, creates a peaceful landscape glowing with soft
color and texture. There are 7 individual blocks that could stand alone as wall hangings or together to create a cat lovers
paradise as a whole quilt. It’s the purrfect project for any cat-loving quilter.
There will be a SEW IN day once a month to work on these blocks. No charge

Classroom Available
If your group is looking for a place to quilt and socialize, consider the Quilted Corner. We have the irons
and ironing boards as well as cutting mats. There is a kitchen with coffee pot, microwave and refrigerator.
Just call the store to schedule. You are welcome anytime the room is open.
Also available for use are the big tables in the back, perfect for pinning that large quilt top.

Project Linus mission: To make security blankets for kids
in critical care and traumatic situations.

The Quilted Corner continues to be a drop off place for
quilts. Please feel free to bring in any new, handmade,
washable quilts. Any size is acceptable from 18”x 24” up to
45” x 60”.

If those unfinished projects are taking over your sewing room or you want to start a new project but need
to finish one first, come join us on the second Sunday
of each month. Bring your project and sewing machine and join in the fun. You sew at your own pace
and you may use the store’s ironing boards, irons,
and cutting mats. There is no fee. “Sew” gather up
your UFO’s and join us at the store on the following
Sundays from noon to 5pm.

Class Policies
Payment for the class fee is required at the time of registration. Due to class size restrictions, we are unable to accept reservations without payment. You may register in person, by mail or by telephone with a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.
All classes have a minimum enrollment. If enrollment does not meet the instructors’ class minimum we will notify you 4 days prior
to the class. If your class is cancelled by the instructor you will receive store credit or refund in the amount of the class fee.
If you must cancel, the Quilted Corner will need to receive notification at least 4 days prior to the start of class. Cancellations
after this point are nonrefundable.
If you miss a class, make-up classes are available for $12.50 per hour (one hour minimum). Please make arrangements with
your instructor. Private lessons are also available for $12.50 per hour.
A 10% discount will be given on all items purchased from the Quilted Corner for your class.
Due to limited space, we must ask that children not be brought to class.
Please note the skill level requirements for each class. We want you to have a good time and succeed.
It is important to check your sewing machine prior to class time to insure it is running properly and that you have working knowledge of it. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know as soon as possible, so we can assist you .
Beginner Skill level: Limited or no basic sewing knowledge
Intermediate Skill level: Knowledge of sewing basics and quilting fundamentals
