COURSE OUTLINE BSB51915 DIPLOMA OF LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources. What job roles could my training lead to? Approximately 8 - 12 months of study time will be involved however, the training duration will depend on the electives and study mode selected. Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include: Club Manager Frontline Manager Information Services Manager Business Administration Manager. Am I eligible? There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency. Consideration will be given to your academic and/or work histories. What will I receive? On successful completion learners will receive a Diploma of Leadership and Management or a Statement of Attainment for competencies completed. Can I go on to further training? Yes. Successful completion of this course may gain recognition of your studies towards the Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management or other Diploma qualifications. How long will the training take? Particular emphasis is on the development of systems and the analysis of information to monitor and adjust performance strategies, and to manage opportunities for further improvements. SITXMGT501 Establish and conduct business relations This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish and manage positive business relationships. It requires the ability to use high-level communication and relationship building skills to conduct formal negotiations and make commercially significant business-to-business agreements. Session 2 BSBLDR501 Develop and use emotional intelligence This unit covers the development and use of emotional intelligence to increase self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management in the context of the workplace. It includes identifying the impact of own emotions on others in the workplace, recognising and appreciating the emotional strengths and weaknesses of others, promoting the development of emotional intelligence in others and utilising emotional intelligence to maximise team outcomes.It applies to managers who identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources and who deal with unpredictable problems. They use initiative and judgement to organise the work of self and others and plan, evaluate and co-ordinate the work of teams. It applies to managers and leaders who identify, analyse, synthesise and act on information from a range of sources, and who deal with unpredictable problems. They use initiative and judgement to organise the work of self and others and plan, evaluate and co-ordinate the work of teams. Session 3 BSBLDR502 Lead and manage effective workplace relationships This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead and manage effective workplace relationships. It applies to individuals in leadership or management who have a prominent role in establishing and managing processes and procedures to support workplace relationships taking into account the organisation's values, goals and cultural diversity. At this level work will normally be carried out within complex and diverse methods and procedures, which require the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies. BSBWOR502 Lead and manage team effectiveness This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead teams in the workplace and to actively engage with the management of the organisation.It applies to individuals working at a managerial level who facilitate work teams and build a positive culture within their work teams. At this level, work will normally be carried out using complex and diverse methods and procedures requiring the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies Session 4 BSBCUS501 Manage quality customer service This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop strategies to manage organisational systems that ensure products and services are delivered and maintained to standards agreed by the organisation. Operators may have staff involved in delivering customer service and are responsible for the quality of their work. In many instances the work will occur within the organisation’s policies and procedures framework. At this level, the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies, will be required. BSBMGT517 Manage operational plan This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation's productivity and profitability plans. Session 5 BSBMGT502 Manage people performance This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management. BSBHRM512 Develop and manage performance-management processes This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to design, implement and oversee performance-management processes. The unit also includes specific intervention associated with under-performance or misconduct and developing approaches to address skill and performance gaps. Session 6 BSBFIM501 Manage budgets and financial plans This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation. This includes planning and implementing financial management approaches, supporting team members whose role involves aspects of financial operations, monitoring and controlling finances, and reviewing and evaluating effectiveness of financial management processes in line with the financial objectives of the work team and the organisation. BSBRSK501 Manage risk This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area.
