Event Information
Challenge
Our goal is to achieve 88 hours of continuous piano playing—one hour for each key of a piano. We invite hundreds of
pianists to play one or more 10-minute segments on a Steinway grand piano provided by Daynes Music Company.
All proceeds from this piano-a-thon fundraiser will help pay for a Steinway grand piano for the Lenora Ford Brown
Recital Stage at Bountiful Davis Art Center (BDAC) as well as support future community concerts.
Calling All Pianists
Pianists of all ages and all skill levels are invited. No minimum level of proficiency is required. Players of other
instruments are welcome to participate as long as the pieces they perform include piano accompaniment.
Instructions for Participants
1. Sign-up for one or more 10-minute time slots during Memorial Day weekend on www.bdac.org/piano-a-thon. A team
leader assigned to your selected time slot(s) will contact you to give you pledge information and instructions. One
suggestion that may help is that you can repeat your piano pieces if you have a time-goal for more time than what it
takes to play your pieces. You can even repeat your repertoire on different days; but remember, you will only get
pledge payments for your stated minute goal on your pledge form(s).
2. Gather pledges using the pledge form for the total number of minutes you will play during the event.
o You are encouraged but not required to get pledges for your playing time. You may play with or without
pledges.
Example: If you have a total playing time of 10 minutes and you have received seven $1.00-per-minute
pledges, then you will play for $7.00 per minute and will earn $70.00 in fundraising revenue.
o Get pledges from your family, friends, and neighbors.
o Give those who have committed to pledge a “Pledge Card” for their records. Put your scheduled performance
time on the card in case they want to attend.
o If you need more pledge forms, you may download blank forms at www.bdac.org/piano-a-thon.
3. Participate in the event at BDAC. You are welcome to bring an audience. Arrive at least five minutes early to be
ready to play at your scheduled performance time. Dress is casual. Food/snacks will be provided during the event.
Bring your pledge form when you arrive to play. BDAC will gather pledge money from those who pledge on your
form.
Rewards/Incentives
All participants will receive a certificate of participation and a thank you gift.
