Give yourself the night off – join popular TV and radio presenter Diane Louise
Jordan and inspirational speaker and author Cathy Madavan at Care for the
Family’s Mum’s the Word event for a fun and insightful evening designed especially
for mums. Mothers are so often unsung heroes, and this special evening is about

Food Bank: Beacon meeting the needs of
our Community
Beacon is part of a consortium of churches in this area who are working together, with the support
of the Trussell Trust, to provide a Food Bank for our local community. We need your help and food
donations to get this venture off the ground. Please help feed local people in crisis by buying items
from the list below and donating them to Beacon Foodbank Mission.
Shopping list
Milk (UHT or powdered)
Sugar (500g)
Long life Fruit juice (carton)
Pasta sauces
Sponge pudding (tinned)
Tomatoes (tinned)
Cereals
Rice pudding (tinned)
Tea Bags/instant coffee
Instant mash potato
Tinned meat/fish
Tinned fruit
Tinned vegetables
Biscuits or snack bars
The food bank provides a minimum of three days, non-perishable, emergency food to local people
in crisis. All food given out is donated by the local community. This is done in partnership with frontline care professionals who identify people in need.
Within the next month or so, Beacon will be providing a container for you to place your food donations in. Further information about the process will follow shortly .
If you are interested in being a part of the team who are working on this
project, contact Maggie or Marcia

Why is Beacon here?
Beacon Church is here to show and to tell our community the
good news of Jesus and to build and nurture the body so each
one is ready, willing and able to take on this task
We began in 1987 as a union of three smaller churches with a vision
to be a ‘Beacon’ of the good news of Jesus, shining from the top of the
hill to Handsworth.
We believe God has said to us quite clearly that we are to Go, be fruitful and multiply and we seek to work this out in each area of life.
Go on...Join in and see the benefit of being in God’s family!
We meet in small groups each week for prayer and fellowship and just to enjoy one
another’s company! In our groups we are learning how to reach out together in mission. You
will be welcome at any of our groups:
