Thursday 30th April 2015 Issue 11 PRINCIPAL PATCH ANZAC Day: Beaconsfield township commemorated ANZAC Day on the 19th of April. Beaconsfield Primary school was represented by school leaders Diesel, Georgia, Olivia and Jordan. Brandon and Aaron were proudly there as part of their Scouts involvement. ANZAC day is not about the politics, the rights and wrongs of war; it is simple and solemn remembrance of the men and women, just six or seven years older than the children below who honoured them, and the sacrifice they made for their country. To hear the reflections of our School Leaders follow this link: http://gr56bps.global2.vic.edu.au/2015/04/26/anzac-day/ Oral Language (Speaking and Listening Skills): Oral Language is the foundation for student learning and absolutely essential to the development of literacy skills. As parents; and as your child’s first teacher, your one to one interaction with your children shaped their language development and set them up for success at school. The more interaction you have with your child, turning off the TV and talking to them at dinner time, reading with them, telling jokes and stories, the stronger their Oral Language becomes. At School, this process continues from Prep to adulthood! This week, our Yr.5 children, pictured here, are practicing their oral language focussing on pace and volume. Cheers Gary Above: (LtoR) Kalysta, Zoe and Seb practicing their Oral Language using a microphone. Beacy Buzz P2 MRS AMOS Beaconsfield Fire Brigade Visits Beacy Thanks to Jason McKenzie, Marc Graham and members of the Beaconsfield CFA who organised for one of the fire trucks to visit school on Tuesday. Our Grade 3/4 students are learning about helpers in our community and were delighted to have the firefighters visit and show them one of the trucks. The children were excited to see the hoses at work. I don't think they got too wet. School Photos Our school photos should be back and handed out to your children this week. We will have a whole school photo taken later in the year. If you have any questions, come and ask at the Office or ring School Pix on 8786 4800.
