President’s Message:
Wow did the month go by fast or what! The Beaver State Corvette club is at it again enjoying the sun and having
a great time. On 22nd of Feb a lot of the club members got together and had a great ride throughout the Oregon
Roads. Our wonderful and fantastical chariots landed us at the McMenamins in Wilsonville for lunch. You could hear
the laughter miles away. Our journey that day had the sunshine on our side with winding road and beautiful scenery.
Not only did we get to look at engines but we also got to experience Al Sather’s door getting stuck. Oh he tried and he
tried to get the passenger door open, but after a few minutes, he successfully mastered opening the door for Mary. Al
you are a great gentleman! Talking about great people, Al Sather’s is now our Vice President and Lou Gsell is our new
Secretary. Welcome aboard! It is going to be a great year!
What a gentleman!

Vroom…. Vroom!!!
Join the fun!!! Enjoy a live murder mystery together. Dinner is served, with a side of murder. Be
prepared to bring out the Sherlock Holmes in you and bring Watson too. Can we as a club solve it??!!!!
Come and find out!!
I will need 4 detectives to help plan the route to the scene of the crime. Remember no one will know
the route taken. The 4 McGruff’s will plan out a route to the bat lair, aka train. Once planned out, there will be blue’s
clues throughout the route to help find out who killed Al Sather’s. I hear the back ground music of......... JAWS!!!
Ahhhh. We will have our own little murder mystery run on the way there. The night will be filled with excitement and
finger pointing.
There will be a flyer and sign-up sheet on it at the meeting and also attached to the March newsletter. It will have all
cost (DNA) on it. It will be on the 19th of September. So make sure you bring your investigator hat, coat and
magnifying glass. The CSI will start from the old Safeway in Albany at 0900. At this time, everyone will be read their
Miranda rights and ee have no profile on the perp as of yet, but I did hear Mary saying something about “I’ll get even
with him”. Don’t know what that was about. So let’s take a bite out of crime and solve the thriller!
Here are the timelines for the clues: 0900-1000 1st route, 1000-1100 2nd route, 1100-12:00 Lunch, 12:00-1:00 3rd
Route, 1:00 to 2:00 4th Route. Please let me know who would like to take each path towards finding out who killed Al.
2
We will end at the Hotel and check-in. The hotel will be the Vagabond Lodge, it is about 2 ½ mile from the Coroner’s
office (Train). From there we will board at 4:30. The murder mystery will end at 9:00 pm. Other clubs are also invited
if they would like to join our passé . Please radio me at 541-979-3315.
The deadline for this is 1 July. This way we all can experience this from our jail cell together. You will need to call up
and reserve your room if you are staying at the hotel. At this time they have lots of rooms available. The sooner you
reserve the better we can all be together.
In March I would like to do a progressive dinner. Those who would like to volunteer please let me know. The date
would be 22 March 2015.
Here are a few events coming up this summer. Please click on the link and view them. I will also have the flyers at the
Corvette Club meeting on 10 March at Ciddici’s Pizza.

Rare February Road Trip (Pictures submitted by Mary and Lou…Thanks!)
A Road Trip was suggested by Mary for Sunday, 2/22, due to our awesome weather.
We met at Carson Chevron, 10 Corvettes (and one interloper) strong. It was a super February day for a
cruise. Not often that we get that opportunity in February. GREAT call, Mary!
Destination was McMenamins in Wilsonville. It was a wonderful route for the Corvettes to follow.
7
We discovered urinals dang near as big as canoes. Anybody got a paddle? Atta girl, Pat!
Rick and Julie enjoying their meals.
8
Vettes waiting on the train in Brooks.
Huh….funny looking white Corvette….
Pit stop was at the Brooks Pilot
Truck Stop.
Thanks Al and Mary for putting together
a fun Road Trip!

Corvette humor:
A homeless man knocks on a woman's door, looking for help.
"Think you could spare a few bucks? Maybe some food?"
The woman thinks to herself for a few seconds, then says, "You could do some handy work around here,
I'd be glad to give you $30 if you paint my porch. There's some green paint and a brush right around the
corner there, have at it."
He thanks her, and heads towards the bucket. She returns inside and resumes her knitting.
After about an hour, she gets up to check on his progress, and sees no man, or a freshly painted porch.
Just then, she hears a knocking again at her door, and goes to open it.
She is greeted by the same man, green paint splattered on his clothes and in his beard, a wide grin on his
face.
"All done ma'am. And by the way, it's a Corvette, not a Porsche."

About the car:
1963 Corvette Stingray Convertible; Riverside Red; All matching numbers; L76 327cid/340hp.
Black leather interior
Transmission: Original "matching numbers" M20 four speed
Differential: 3.70:1 posi-traction
Power steering and power windows
Black soft top.
All gauges work except the clock.
All other accessories work including heater, lights and radio (which I will probably not use
much because it has flow master exhaust which is sweeeet and may drown out the tunes.)
No rust anywhere. This baby is very clean and ready to roll.
We are very excited to get this sweet ride into our stable.
Congratulations Pat and Faye! She’s BEAUTIFUL. Many miles of smiles ahead of you.

Lou and I recently
celebrated our 36th
anniversary at Whale Cove
Inn, just south of Depoe
Bay. We drove the
Corvette and enjoyed it,
as the weather was
forecast to be sunny and
mild. We had a great time,
and scouted a possible
future “Road Trip.” If
you’ve thought about
staying there, email us for
our thoughts.
I’m reading a Stephen King book called “11/22/63”. GREAT book. In it, he has a line regarding
speed limits in Texas in 1960. Goes like this:
“There were speed limits but they weren’t enforced. In Texas, even the state cops were
believers in the gospel of put the pedal to the metal and let ‘er bellow.”
As Corvette owners, ya gotta love THAT sentiment!
