Welcome & Thank You!
Welcome to our 16th annual walk, and thank you for your interest as a new or returning Team
Captain! We have seen a significant growth since our first walk in 2000, and are very excited
to continue to reach greater milestones.
If you are not already familiar with the history of the walk, here is a brief introduction. In the
year 2000, founders Carol Moriarty, Nancy Mulcahy and Lisa O’Brien joined together with a
small group of their closest friends and family members, walking through their Beverly
neighborhood on Mother’s Day in the fight against breast cancer. What started as a walk
among a group of friends and family, has transformed into a community-wide event, with an
anticipated 14,000 walkers to join this year.
Proceeds, which benefit the Cancer Center, the Comprehensive Breast Health Center and the
Mammography Department at Little Company of Mary Hospital, allow LCMH to provide state-ofthe-art treatment and services to breast cancer patients and their families. A range of
specialists, surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists, counselors and resources come
together to create a single gateway for breast wellness grounded in a holistic approach to the
healing & treatment process.
Please know that your efforts make all the difference, as our Teams are the spirit and
essence of this special day. Attached we have created a Team Captain Packet to assist in
getting your team started or keeping your team going strong.
This Team Captain Packet is designed to provide you with information about the event, and
give you the necessary tools to get started in your recruitment efforts. On walk day, we invite
you and your team to gather at Ridge Park (96th and Longwood Drive) and enjoy in various
kick-off activities with fellow walkers and volunteers whom strive to make a difference in the
lives of those affected by breast cancer.
We appreciate your support, and invite you to direct any questions to the Beverly Breast
Cancer Walk Committee. For further support, please contact Nichole Flores at 708.229.5066
or visit our website at: www.beverlybreastcancerwalk.org.
We are delighted to welcome you as a new or returning Team Captain!
