Use only the yarn specified. Other yarns are likely to produce

Check the ball bands to ensure all yarn is from the same dye lot.
NEEDLES AND EXTRAS
• 1 pair each 3.25mm (UK 10) and 3.75mm (UK 9)
knitting needles or size needed to give correct tension.
• cable needle.
• 2 stitch-holders.
• 2 safety pins (optional).
• 6 buttons.
• wool needle for sewing seams.
TENSION
34 sts and 34 rows to 10cm over side patt (slightly stretched),
using 3.75mm needles.
To work a tension square, using 3.75mm needles, cast on
50 sts.
1st row – P2, * TWL, P2, rep from * to end.
2nd row – K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
Rep these 2 rows 24 times … 50 rows patt in all.
Cast off loosely.
Check your tension carefully.
If less sts to 10cm use smaller needles, if more sts use
bigger needles.
With correct yarn and tension, your garment will look like
our photograph.
SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS
TWL = Knit into back of 2nd st (taking needle behind first st),
then knit into front of first st, slipping both sts off needle tog.
C4F = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at front
of work, K2, then K2 from cable needle.
C4B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at back
of work, K2, then K2 from cable needle.
C6B = Slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at back
of work, K2, move cable needle to front of work, K2 from
left-hand needle, then K2 from cable needle.

POCKET LININGS (make 2)
Using 3.75mm needles, cast on 22 sts.
Work in stocking st until lining measures 8cm from beg,
ending with a knit row.

Dec one st at each end of next row, then in every foll alt row
until 66 (70-84-86-104) sts rem, then in every row until 36 (3638-48-50) sts rem.
Cast off 5 (5-5-7-7) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 7 (7-7-99) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.
Cast off rem 12 (12-14-16-18) sts.
RIGHT FRONT BAND
NOTE – We recommend using mattress stitch to sew up
your handknit.
Join shoulder seams. Slip sts from Right Front Band thread
or safety pin onto a 3.25mm needle so that wrong side is
facing for first row.
1st row – Cast on one st (seam st), (P1, K1) 5 times … 10 sts.
Work 20 rows rib.
Next row – Rib 4, yfwd, K2tog, rib 4.
Work 23 rows rib.
Rep last 24 rows 3 times, then buttonhole row once …
6 buttonholes in all.
Cont without further buttonholes until band fits (slightly
stretched) evenly along right front edge to shoulder seam,
then across half of back neck.
Cast off loosely in rib.
LEFT FRONT BAND
Slip sts from Left Front Band thread or safety pin onto a
3.25mm needle so that right side will be facing for first row.
1st row – Cast on one st (seam st), (K1, P1) 4 times, K2 …
10 sts.
Cont in rib until band fits (slightly stretched) evenly along left front
edge to shoulder seam, then across rem half of back neck.
Cast off loosely in rib.
POCKET TOPS
Slip 32 sts from stitch-holder onto 3.25mm needle, so that
wrong side is facing for first row.
1st row (wrong side) – Cast on one st (seam st), P3, P2tog,
P2, K2tog, P2tog, K2tog, P1, (P2tog) 3 times, P1, K2tog,
P2tog, K2tog, P2, P2tog, P2 … 22 sts.
