What is the Nashdoi Pageant?
By Tasheena Valdez
The Nashdoi Pageant is for Native American girls who know
their heritage and want to show it.
Contestants this year were April Harvey, Cheyenne Begaii,
Chasitty Newton and Jasmine Sanchez.
There was entertainment with people performing. The
dancers were Eddie Munoz and Nathaniel Nez. They both are
powwow dancers that were happy to perform at the Nashdoi
pageant.
The contestants had to introduce themselves in their native
language, perform a talent and answer a question from the
judges. Jasmine danced the danced with hoops, April showed
how to weave, Chasitty sang, and Cheyenne showed how to
make a Navajo cake.
The winner of 2014-15 Nashdoi pageant was Jasmine
Sanchez. Last year’s winner, Shayla Taylor, gave her crown
to Jasmine as she was announced the winner.
Unique Program Creating Bobcat Spirit
The students in the Unique Program have been hard at
work this school year!
For Homecoming week, the students had the fun task of
painting bobcat paws on Pine Street, (the road heading in to
the football field). The Art 3 class helped us paint the bobcat
paws and trash cans.
The students have also been working in the school greenhouse, and they have started growing several different plants,
vegetables, and flowers. We want to give a special THANK
YOU to Kelly Thompson for volunteering her time to help us
get the greenhouse up and running!
We have many fun and exciting activities planned throughout this school year, and we always love to have volunteers
join us in our activities! Please contact Mrs. Zepeda or Mrs.
Alexander if you would like to get involved with the students
in the Unique Program at BHS!
Did You Save a Life?
By: Nathan Prado
Some of the students and staff at BHS saved
a life at this year’s blood drive.
The blood drive was October 23 in the North Gym.
Bloomfield High School donated more than 50
pints of blood! One pint of blood can save 5 lives,
that means the schools donation
can possibly save 250 lives.
Good job BHS!

BHS Thinks Pink
By: Estefany Rios & Maria Payan
Did you get Pinked?
October is the official Breast Cancer
Awareness month. Breast cancer is a cancer
that starts in the tissues of the breast. About
1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop
invasive breast cancer, over the course of her
lifetime. About 85% of breast cancers occur
in women who don’t have any family history
of breast cancer.
Bloomfield High school joined the fight
and got pinked in the month of October. The
Seniors and the Juniors combined to fight
at a powderpuff game on Wednesday, October 8th, 2014. The score was 0-0 throughout the whole game, but thanks to everyone
who participated and helped out they raised
some money for the Cathy Lincoln Memorial
Cancer Fund. During the PowderPuff half
time the Junior and Senior boys did a dance
that turned out really well, and all their hard
work seemed to pay off. There was also a
performance done by the Elite Dance Com-
pany, which was a really nice performance.
The week of October 6th, started with
a dress up week. The days were MondayLazy PJ Day, Tuesday- Crazy Neon Day,
Wednesday- Pink Out Day, and ThursdayNerdy Day.
The day of October 8th, before the game,
there was a pep rally it was spectacular.
There was so much Bloomfield pride and
spirit. There was dancing and cheering that
helped people get into the spirit. There was
also the Tug-Of-War between the Juniors
and the Seniors, the Seniors took the victory.
The BHS students and staff helped to
make a difference and got the community
involved in helping for the Cathy Lincoln
Memorial fund. BHS feels accomplished in
helping for a great cause.
Thanks to the school of BHS, raised
over $6000 and changed
lives.
