VICTORIAN GYPSIES AUTUMN & WINTER COLLECTION 2013 1 Swedish Hasbeens Autumn & Winter Collection 2013 VICTORIAN GYPSIES Victorian fashion emerged during the reign of Queen Victoria. This period covered most of the 19th century and saw many changes in fashion, clothing, architecture and literature. People wanted to move away from the functional clothing of the earlier eras and were instead inspired by romanticism, mysticism and art. The main theme of the Victorian age was combining the best elements from various styles and a lively style of ornamentation. Our new collection is inspired by this romantic and mystic era: when fashion was full of meaning, colors were vibrant and quality was high. Fashion was still slow. Custom sewing and hand-production meant that shoes lasted for a long time. A strong influence is also the Gypsy fashion of the late 19th century with its more daring and diverse mix of colors, materials, layers and patterns. This really made Victorian fashion come alive. All the new styles are made on our new Victorian inspired, smoothly-curved and feminine wooden soles; Sky High, Super High, High and Low. As with all our shoes, the new styles are made by hand using traditional production methods in old shoe factories from vegetable-tanned natural grain leather. Zipper boots, Chelsea boots and Lace-up styles make them all really easy to slip into. Most styles come in softer nubuck leather as well. The 1900’s stylish Gypsy Boot and Lace Up Boot come in vintage-cognac nubuck leather and the Victorian Chelsea Boot comes in velvet-black and dark-bordeaux. The romantic Button Boots with gold-colored details come in Singoalla-red and the Victorian Wedge Boots are made in the deepest gypsy-green. The Gypsy Dancing Shoe with its ornamental cutouts, the curvy Cobra Gold-Strap Sandals and all the new boot styles come in the softer nubuck leather, as well as in all the new mystic colors.
