Book Discussion Group
Our next book provided by the Finger Lakes
Library System is titled The Dead Beat by
Marilyn Johnson. We will meet on Wednesday,
May 20th at 2:30 in the McAuley Center. Copies of the book
are available at the McAuley with the book club kit. The
summary of this book from Harper Collins Publishers:
"The New York Times comes each morning and never
fails to deliver news of the important dead. Every day is
new; every day is fraught with significance. I arrange my
cup of tea, prop up my slippers. Obituaries are history as it
is happening. Whose time am I living in? Was he a
success or a failure, lucky or doomed, older than I am or
younger? Did she know how to live? I shake out the
pages. Tell me the secret of a good life! Where else can
you celebrate the life of the pharmacist who moonlighted as
a spy, the genius behind Sea Monkeys , the school lunch
lady who spent her evenings as ballroom hostess? No
wonder so many readers skip the news and the sports and
go directly to the obituary page. The Dead Beat is the story
of how these stories get told." All are welcome!

Prayer for Mothers
Dear God,
On this day that we honor mothers, may we
draw strength from the mothers who went
before us. May we remember Jochebed,
mother of Moses, who gave her son over to
God's providence when forces that threatened
him were beyond her control. May we remember the mother
of Mary, St. Anne, who helped her daughter learn an
openness to God's will. May we remember St. Monica, who
suffered an abusive spouse and her son's poor choices, but
lived to see her child's return to God. Most of all, we
remember Mary. Though she watched her child suffer and
die, she also saw his resurrection and glory and was in turn
glorified by him. Amen.
Daily Prayer of the Month
Holy Spirit, during this month of Pentecost and each day
of the year, we pray that with your guidance, we will seek
the Father's Will for us each morning. Holy Spirit, we pray
that you inspire us as you inspired the disciples, to carry out
His Will as we receive it daily. By striving to do His Will, we
hope to fulfill our Confirmation duties to "spread and defend
the faith by word and deed". Amen.
Monthly Adoration
There will be Eucharistic Adoration at
St. Margaret Mary's on May 16. All are
welcome to stop in the Blessed Sacrament
Chapel and spend some time with the Lord
from 7pm - midnight.
Please pray this prayer along with our Prayer Partners today and throughout this
month. If you have a suggestion for prayer intention please let us know at
[email protected]

etc. – all supplies that are not covered by SNAP (food
stamp) grants. If you can help, we would be most
grateful. Bins will be located in St. Patrick Church,

School. Thank you for all the ways you support our
ministry in the community!
