First Communion will be at Sunday Masses at all Blessed Trinity/St. Patrick Churches on April 12th . Readiness for First Communion: Desire for the Sacrament Can distinguish Eucharist from ordinary bread Participation in the life of community and weekly attendance at Sunday Mass Willingness to continue life in the community after reception of the Sacrament Child must be formed appropriately for his/her age- two years of consistent Parish Religious Education classes or two years of attendance in Catholic School Celebration of First Penance prior to receiving Eucharist Registered member of our parish Readiness for First Eucharist is an emotional and spiritual readiness as well as an intellectual preparation. The child’s readiness comes from the experience of participating in the liturgy each week with his/her family. The Hands of Christ is a recognition program to assist parishes in affirming their high school seniors who have been the “Hands of Christ” in their church, home, school and community; sponsored by the Department of Evangelization and Catechesis. Recognized seniors are invited to receive a plaque from the Most Reverend Bishop Salvatore R. Matano at one of four special Recognition Ceremonies held in March 2015. To participate, pick up a baby bottle, fill it with coins, bills, or a check, and return it at or before the beginning of Lent, February 18. Receipts are available if you give $20 or more. Thank you. Monthly Prayer Heavenly Father, As we begin a New year, we thank You for Your many good gifts For the beauty of Creation and its rich and varied fruits, For clean water and fresh air, for food and shelter, animals and plants. Forgive us for the times we have taken the earth's resources for granted And wasted what You have given us. Transform our hearts and minds so that we would learn to care and share, To touch the earth with gentleness and with love, Respecting all living things. We pray for all those who suffer as a result of our waste, greed and indifference, And we pray that the day would come when everyone has enough food and clean water. Help us to respect the rights of all people and all species and help us to willingly share your gifts Today and always. Amen. You've done it again! Thanks to your generous and continuous donations of NY deposit cans and bottles, St. James benefited in the amount of $2,060.04 in 2014. This money is used for projects at St. James. You might remember that earlier in the year we bought new bedding and a recliner for our Priests in our rectory. We also used the money to finish the windows in the doorway above the Clark Street church entrance. Since we began the project in 2007, $15,905.20 has been raised that means 304,038 cans/bottles have been brought in and redeemed. Initially the money was used for the restoration of the stained glass window above the choir. The fundraising project continues in 2015. Any cans/ bottles may be left by the garage doors behind the rectory and I'll take it from there. THANK YOU again for your support in all that we do at St. James. Fiona Murdoch, Eco-Congregation Ireland Please pray this prayer along with our Prayer Partners today and throughout this month. If you have a suggestion for prayer intention please let us know at [email protected] Blessed Trinity & St. Patrick Book Club Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 21 at 2:30 pm in the McAuley Center. One of our members, Rose C., has a collection of Tom Swift books that were her grandfathers. These are of the 1910 vintage. She has brought them in to the McAuley Center and you may sign out one of your choice. “Swift by name and swift by nature!” As well, we have our poetry selection from the Finger Lakes Library system - another selection of your choice. Update on Ultreya The next Ultreya will be held on February 27 in St. Patrick Church. We will meet in the St. Francis Chapel upstairs. Please mark your calendar. 5 March for Life Be a voice for the voiceless! Plan now to travel with fellow parishioners to Washington, DC, on January 22, 2015 for the March for Life.
