Local Events of Interest In honor of St. Joseph the Worker, students of Newark Catholic HS will offer their services on Friday, May 1st and will be available to help any elderly (or homebound) members of our parish who are in need of yard or housework, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Share your good cooking with the residents of St. Vincent Haven! St. Vincent Haven is a 26 bed emergency/transitional shelter for homeless men 18 years and older. Each evening dinner is prepared for the Haven by volunteer cooking teams (in their homes) and brought to the shelter. Teams are generally 3-4 persons and usually cook just once a month. Teams can use food from the Food Pantry Network in the meals. We currently have a couple of evenings open and need your help. Over the past 5 years, St. Vincent Haven has provided over 35,000 nights of safe shelter and more than 80,000 meals for over 800 residents.
