Running, walking, or cheering as part of a squad? Here's everything you need to know about Scotiabank
Blue Nose 2015.
 Have you heard about our newest event? Blue Nose is proud to introduce the Heritage Gas
Marathon Team Relay. The Relay covers the full marathon, broken down into eight legs ranging
from 3 KM to 8 KM. Teams can register four to eight members.
 Are you one of the thousands who will be participating in the Johnson 5KM? Don’t forget it will get
underway at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 as part of an expanded Blue Nose weekend of events.
 The Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run has become a flagship family activity and the largest youth
event in Canada. Last year we added a 2KM race to the youth run to accommodate our youngest
participants. The Youth Run kicks off Saturday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m.
 Good news! Although work on the Angus L. Macdonald's Big Lift starts in March, the bridge will still
be part of the Blue Nose racecourse for the 10KM, Full, and Relay Marathons.
The 10KM, Full andRelay Marathons will take place the morning of Sunday, May 17.
 After the success of two starting times last year, the GoodLife FITNESS 10KM will continue this
year. The first wave will leave the starting line at 8:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 17 and the second will
depart five minutes later at 8:55 a.m. Visit our website for more details.
 You know what they say about the early bird, right? Well, our Early Bird pricing offer is even better.
Save up to $30 off regular adult registration. Register before midnight on February 28 to enjoy
maximum savings. Worm not included!
 The largest expo of its kind in Atlantic Canada is back in 2015 and better than ever. Blue Nose
presents the Active Living Expo, May 15-17 at the World Trade and Convention Centre. Last year,
the expo expanded to two levels, to bring you even more of the latest in health-related topics,
products and services. Highlights include fitness demonstrations, newbie orientation sessions, a
youth zone and more. Visit our website for updates on exhibitors, speakers and sessions!
True Nova Scotian Experience
With over 14,000 people expected to participate in this year's Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon,
Blue Nose has grown tremendously since its inception 12 years ago. Volunteers have been key to
the success of Blue Nose from the very beginning. Long time Blue Nose volunteer and current
volunteer services co-chair Emily LeBlanc agrees:
"Volunteers are the driving force of Blue Nose, they encourage our runners and also run things
behind the scenes. We are proud to have close to 1,500 volunteers contribute to the weekend, and
we truly couldn’t have such a successful event without their hard work and enthusiasm."
With over 50 different volunteer positions available there's a role out there for everybody! Thinking
of volunteering with the Blue Nose this year? "What's stopping you?" says LeBlanc. "Blue Nose is
such a huge event in Halifax, and being a part of it is a Nova Scotian experience like no other.
Being surrounded by so much energy is truly amazing, I encourage you to find a role that fits you
and join us for Blue Nose!"
Online registration for volunteers is now live on our website and it's easier than ever to sign-up.
Help Fellow Nova Scotians - Scotiabank Charity
Challenge
If you're planning on walking or running in the Blue Nose this year, why not consider fundraising for a
charity? Last year we had over 75 local charities participate in Scotiabank Charity Challenge and raised
$530,000.
"Fundraisers can make their Blue Nose Marathon event more meaningful by lacing up and going the
distance to support one of our 2015 Official Charities," says Charity Challenge coordinator, Sue Tregunno.
So who can be a 'fundraiser'? You! Any participant in the Blue Nose can sign up to run and help a charity.
Visit Charity Challenge and follow our instructions under How to Register for Charity Challenge as a
Fundraiser.
The Scotiabank Charity Challenge program is a unique fundraising opportunity for charities here in our local
community that takes care of all of the logistics and allows charities to keep 100% of the money raised. Your
support can make a big impact. One of our featured charities for 2015, The Ecology Action Centre (EAC),
has been participating in Blue Nose for the last four years.
"It has become our largest annual fundraising event," says Joanna Bull, volunteer and events coordinator at
EAC, "providing important funds for our core operations. Charity Challenge has a lot of potential to make
really excellent use of our networks and resources to raise money in a very effective way."
Fundraising helps official charities to reach their goals and build awareness for their organizations. With so
many great causes to choose from, head to our Official Charities 2015 list to choose which charity you'd like
to support!

Every year, Value Village diverts more than 600 million pounds of quality merchandise from North America's
landfills, which makes them a perfect partner for the Blue Nose Shoe Mountain initiative.
"It fits with our commitment to the community," says Lori Ogden, Community Donations Manager with Value
Village, Atlantic District. "It allows us to give back to those in need."
In Nova Scotia alone, Value Village has helped divert 30,000 tonnes of textiles from provincial landfills
annually by working with non-profits. "That's a win/win/win. When you donate unwanted clothes to us, nonprofits across Atlantic Canada win, the environment wins and Value Village wins because we pay our nonprofit partners for every donation we receive."
Adds Ogden: "We're very proud to be a Blue Nose Community Spirit Partner."
Want to donate to Shoe Mountain? Leading up to Blue Nose bring your gently-worn running shoes to Value
Village or to the second floor of the WTCC during the Active Living Expo on race weekend.
