Message from Ms. Clark:
This Tuesday we are coming together in community groupings for
town meetings. The purpose will be to share information, ideas,
hopes, and visions for next year. Next year we will have a new
schedule which we believe will better support student achievement: the schedule will have more time for arts and year-long
classes in math, world language, and learning center. Next year
we will have the whole building, and instead of teachers on carts
and multiple classes, art and academic, taught in rooms, we’ll
have much more space and discipline-specific rooms.
These are all exciting, positive changes. But we also want student
ideas because BAA is the school we all make it. What should we
do in terms of design and decoration in the new spaces? What
community standards should we have for stairwells, which should
be used and how? What responsibility can all of us take on for
maintaining our building?
Thanks for your ideas in the town meetings, and have a great
week!
Announcements for Families:
• Family Conference Day is Thursday, April 16 and will be held at
BAA. There are no regular classes for students this day. You will
hear from your child’s advisor about the time of your conference. If you have not heard from your child’s advisor by April
13, please contact the school at 617-635-6470. Also be advised
that due to new city regulations, we are unable to make parking available in front of the school. Depending on availability,
the following may be options: metered parking on Boylston St.,
2-hour parking on Van Ness St., or street parking on Ipswich St.
between Lansdowne and Boylston St. (the section that runs
parallel to I-90/Mass Pike). Please plan accordingly.
• The next Family Council Meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28.
• The Boston Public Schools has created a new grading system
for schools, and it includes data from family surveys that were
mailed to you. Please complete the paper survey or submit
online at www.bostonpublicschools.org/climatesurvey.
• Green things grow! BAA has a garden plot, right next door
in the Fenway Victory Garden. Come join us to plan out a
garden, get the space ready, and plant flowers, fruits, and
veggies! You can visit all summer and harvest what we grow.
Info sessions are Monday, April 13 during lunch and Tuesday,
April 14 after school in room 312. See Mr. Bobrow if you can’t
make it, but want to grow with us!
• Junior Senior Grant Finalists: Your Senior Grant Proposals are
due Tuesday, April 14 at 5pm to Ms. Aldarondo via email.
Get support in the Mac Lab on Tuesday from 3:30-5pm.•
• Seniors, the yearbook is coming!

2. Fill out the Yearbook survey: memories with Ms. O’Halloran,
and “You know you go to BAA when...”, and request your
personal page login at: tinyurl.com/baa2015yearbook. Personal pages are due by Friday, April 17.
• BAA will be at the Pop-up Maker Space for Young Makers
event Saturday, April 18, 12–2pm, in the Teen Central and
Children’s section on the second floor of the Boston Public Library in Copley. This event is part of the Cambridge Science
Festival. BAA students will be assisting Dr. Gaskins who will
be showing youth how to create interactive, music-based
projects using conductive paint and sound sensors.
• ATTN SENIORS - Scholarship Award: The Nan Tierney Scholarship Award is a $2,500 scholarship that will be granted to two
seniors. All seniors who will pursue art studies in college are
encouraged to apply. Applications are in the main office.
Spring Recess is the perfect time to work on your application.
Please submit your completed application to Ms. Gomez in
the main office no later than 4pm on Friday, May 1.
• Attention JUNIORS: Remember that you are taking the SAT
on Saturday, May 2. (This is the Saturday after we get back
from April break!) If you have not yet registered for the test,
see Miss Mandell in room 304 ASAP.
• SPEAK! Monday, May 4 during Advisory in the Library. Please
come and share your raps, poems, songs and favorite writings. Full advisories are welcome. If you need a pass, please
see Ms. Froggatt.
• Hello Boston Arts Academy student body. Are you passionate about the wellness of BAA? Interested in making a difference in your school community? Then run for the 2015-16
Student Government Executive Board! Available positions, as
of now, are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer,
and Public Relations Manager. To run for a position, submit

• ALL STUDENTS: The theme for this year’s prom is “Enchanted Forest.” If you have decorative items to donate (such as fabrics, white holidays lights, mason jars, or artificial candles), please see senior dance major Andrea Juarez. We are collecting donations until Friday, May 8.
