Summer Camp Options
Monday - Friday
June 22 - August 28
8:00am - 6:00pm
Brown School Summer Camp runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Camps offer a variety of
options that allow students to explore their interests, make new friends, learn new skills, play and have fun.
Our camp is New York State certified, open to the general public, and offers a safe, engaging environment. A
lunch and two snacks are included, and early registration is encouraged!
Eaglet Program (N - PK)
The Eaglet program is open students who are entering Nursery or Pre-K, but all students must be at least 3
years of age and toilet trained. The program is centered around age-appropriate activities for our youngest
campers. Weekly themed activities encourage campers to socialize while engaging in fun learning
adventures. Students also enjoy riding bikes, summer splash, arts and crafts, and movement activities.
Junior Program (K - 3)
The Junior program is open to students who are entering Kindergarten through third grade. Junior program
offers a variety of activities that run in one-hour block intervals throughout the day. These activities include
arts and crafts, sports, music, summer splash, bike riding, block room exploration, and Legos.
Senior Program (4 - 8)
The Senior program is open to students who are entering fourth through eighth grade. Senior program offers
a variety of activities throughout the day. During choice time, students can choose from activities such as
counselor in training program, community service, art, or technology (coding, SketchUP, iMovie, animation,
keyboarding, etc.) Other activities include sports, music, and time in the game room.
Specialty Camp Options
Campers are invited to stay at camp for the full
day at no additional charge.
Magic: The Gathering (Week 1)
June 22 - June 26

Learn to play Magic: The Gathering with Mr. Dievendorf! In this exciting summer program, Mr. Dievendorf will act as
your guide through the universe of Magic, teaching the rules, gameplay, deck building, and variations of one of the most
imaginative and complex trading card games. No supplies necessary!
Club Scientific - Jr. Robot Inventor (Week 1)
June 22 - June 26

Ages 6 - 10
Price: $375
This camp is an introduction into the world of robotics. Campers will learn about the six simple machines and how they
are incorporated into more complex machines. Campers will also learn about circuits and power sources as they build
our “Mars-like” RC Rover. The radio-controlled RC Rover is capable of performing 23 experiments and activities.
Campers will also have fun constructing our Aluminum Can Robot.
PE Your Way (Week 1)

Come join Mrs.Cooper at PE Your Way and enjoy your favorite physical education games. Students will play a variety of
games and sports. They will play some favorites such as dodgeball and capture the flag and they will learn some new
games along the way.
KidzArt – Art Across America (Week 2)

This summer KidzArt takes artists on a journey across this great nation, exploring different American painters, sculptors,
monuments and treasures of the United States. Artists will learn about history as they explore new and different art
mediums while building their self – expression and artistic skills. All artist quality materials included! Summer Literacy Program (Weeks 3 - 9)

Summer literacy sessions run for one week at a time, and are developed as a fun way to help keep kids’ minds active
while allowing them to practice the skills they’ve learned during the year, thus helping them to be better prepared for
school in the fall. Students practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities.
Club Scientific - Little Engineers (Week 3)

Sir Isaac Newton never had this much fun! Campers will be immersed into our toy maker’s workshop as they construct
and take home several different toy projects during the week. Each project will teach an important physical property.
Sample projects include: Spongeball Slingshot, Marshmallow Shooter and Snap Circuit Board.
Bits, Bytes & Bots - Lego WEDO Robotics (Week 3)

Using the LEGO® Education WeDo™ Robotics Construction Set, the students are introduced to simple robotics through
building models, attaching sensors and motors, and using a computer to program the model’s behavior. Some of the
robot models include dancing birds, smart spinner, drumming monkey, hungry alligator, roaring lion, flapping bird, soccer
kicker, soccer goalie, and cheerful fans. Students will also learn about simple engineering concepts such as pulleys,
belts, gears and levels, while having a blast with their creations.
Both beginners and students with some knowledge of LEGO WeDo® can take these classes.
*Robots are for use by students in class only. The robots are expensive, and students will not be able to take them home.
Sportime - Tennis Camp (Week 3)

Come and learn tennis at Brown School. Each day campers will learn racquet and rally skills. After this instructional
time, they will get one hour of match play. Sportime will provide age appropriate equipment for the campers to use.

Gardening (Week 4)

Mrs. Messenger will incorporate literature activities while teaching students what plants need to grow and the parts of
plants we eat. Campers will plant vegetable seeds to create a mini-home garden, and create some yummy snacks with
vegetables! Everyday (weather permitting) students will be outside exploring, learning, and sampling. Improvisational Theatre Class (Week 4)

In Improv Theater, campers will learn how to make characters come to life! They will make up their own stories, and use
theater games, movement and vocal training to sharpen their acting skills. Students will learn the “rules” of improv, and
they will expand their imagination, improve their concentration, and learn to think on their feet!

Music and Movement (Week 5)

Come join Mrs. Cooper for Music and Movement class. Campers will play a variety of games and activities that will teach
them how to move their bodies to music. They will let their imaginations run wild as they take many musical movement
adventures using movement stories. Campers will experience many different types of equipment from ribbons to
parachutes. They will even create their own musical movement story as a class.
Italian Language (Week 5)
July 20 - July 24

Have fun with Italian this summer! During this one week special, your child will learn how to greet and introduce
themselves and their family and talk about their clothing, and the weather. They will also learn basic words such as color
words. Your child will learn through the use of flashcards, interactive games, and songs. Each day will have its own
special culminating activity or craft designed to bring together what has been learned. This camp is for children who
have had little or no Italian language training.
Theatre Club (Weeks 5 & 6)
July 20 - July 31

During the summer theater camp at Brown School, Ms. Rea will walk students through many aspects of the world of
theater. While learning different acting techniques through mini skits and improv activities, students will also learn about
staging, prop selection, costuming, stage management, and set creation. The camp will end with the students performing
a one act play for their friends and families. As students work on the production, they will learn techniques for projection,
body placement on stage, and strategies to help them memorize their lines.
Club Scientific - Emergency Vet (Week 6)
July 27 - July 31

This camp is a young person’s ticket to the world of Veterinary Medicine. Our lessons will give young vets an opportunity
to look into the exciting careers of real veterinarians, and allow them to be involved in related hands-on activities and
experiments. Each camper will receive his or her very own medical kit. Sample topics include: Sheep heart dissection,
DNA extraction, clinical procedure, diseases and parasites, first aid, dental care, and much more!
French Language (Week 6)
July 27 - July 31

Have fun with French this summer! During this one week special, your child will learn basic vocabulary through use of
flashcards, interactive games, and songs. Students will learn how to greet one another, introduce themselves, and
identify numbers, colors and shapes. Each day will have its own special culminating activity or craft designed to bring
together what has been learned. This camp is for children who have had little or no French language experience.

If you think playing computer games is fun, think what a blast learning to program your own games will be. You will use
GameMaker software to create maze, strategy, and a variety of other types of games. You’ll learn about creating sprites,
objects, events and actions. You will learn how to display health, lives, score, splash screens and high score tables. Using
drag and drop programming, you’ll be creating exciting, professional looking games you can play with your friends.
Bits, Bytes & Bots - Make a Lego Brick Film (Week 7)
August 3 - August 7

A Brick film is an animated film that uses LEGO® characters and pieces to tell a story. If you’ve ever wanted to direct
your own movies or like making up stories, then this camp is for you. Using digital cameras, Stop Motion Pro animation
software, and video editing software, you’ll create multi-scene movies with transitions, titles, credits, sound effects and
narration. Design your own set with backgrounds, characters, and scenery. The stories are up to your imagination. This is
a great class to take with friends. No experience is necessary. Students take home a DVD with their movies at the end of
the week.
Amazing Athletes (Week 7)

Amazing Athletes is a developmental sports and fitness program that teaches children the basic fundamentals and
mechanics of 9 different sports: Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Tennis and Volleyball.
Introducing children to sports and fitness at an early age and exposing them to an active and healthy lifestyle is our main
goal. Our program incorporates exercises for gross motor development, hand-eye coordination, cardio-vascular fitness,
speed and agility and stretching and muscle tone. The sports will be divided up throughout the week so the children are
able to learn and practice the basic fundamentals of each. The kids will have a blast while staying active!
Chinese Heritage (Week 8)

Calling all Chinese speaking children! Have fun this summer as children of Chinese speaking homes gather for this
exciting camp. The Heritage Mandarin Chinese camp will be held completely in Chinese. Based on the speaking
abilities of your children, interactive activities will be conducted offering opportunities for your children to develop and
expand their conversational skills. Additionally, your children will be doing a variety of culturally based crafts, some of
which they can take home.
