Roofs for Youth Crisis Worker The Agency The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a community-based charitable organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of crime and increasing community safety through preventative and restorative justice practices. To accomplish these ends, we provide direct services to individuals at risk, advocacy for effective responses to crime with the individuals involved and education for youth and adults in the community. The Program The Roofs for Youth Program (Roofs) is a Housing First program providing reintegration support for chronically disengaged and homeless youth aged 15-24 years who are at risk of involvement in the justice system without stable housing and support services. Roofs provides a continuum of services from discharge planning to housing placement and then continuous case management supports to help the youth stay out of jail, remain housed and successfully transition to adulthood. The Position The Crisis Worker will function in an outreach capacity, working with the Roofs for Youth community Case Management and Youth Residential Facilities Team. Reporting to the Roofs for Youth Team Lead, this position will ensure the development, implementation and on-going administration of crisis assessments and individual crisis management plans for Roofs clients. Roles and Responsibilities will include: Provision of crisis assessments including: internal and environmental triggers for crisis; suicide and selfharm screening; Provide written reports containing crisis management recommendations to the Roofs for Youth Case Management team; Promote and maintain effective linkages with addiction and mental health systems and community agencies, connecting clients with appropriate community treatment; Organize trainings and workshops for the Roofs for Youth staff and clients regarding crisis support and mental health issues. Work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to support clients. The successful candidate will have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License, relevant post-secondary education, will have at least 2 years relevant experience working with the target population and strong client engagement and administration skills.
