This month in addition to our stated meeting we
will have our Windows Luncheon on May 9th
(please see flyer in this Trestleboard). We will
need all available help. On May 14 we will have a
formation class featuring our very own Wor. Albert Lawson. This class is only open to Masons
of Naval Lodge #87. On the 18th we will have a
First Degree practice. There will be a First Degree
on the 21st for Mr. Abeja and a First Degree on
the 28th for Mr. Zumwalde. On the 31st we will
have our first Naval Navigators meeting. There is
no OSI this month. Please consult calendar for
times and details.
And Brothers please see the flyer for our community rummage sale. We will also need every
one that can to pitch in and help to make this
successful. Also, if you wish to reserve a spot or
table there are registration forms in the lobby at
the lodge or see me. Remember this is for our
Masons4Mitts fundraiser this year. Registration

GUIDELINES FOR
INVESTIGATING COMMITTEES
Those who are charged with the duty of investigating the character and other qualifications of
applicants for the privileges of Masonry hold positions of distinction and trust. Of all the committees appointed by the Worshipful Master, none is
more important to the preservation of this great
Fraternal Order’s Way of Life than this committee, whose duty is to determine the fitness of a
candidate prior to balloting on his petition.
Every member in the Lodge is part of the Investigating Committee, especially the voucher of the
petitioner. The member who vouches for a candidate should be certain of his fitness for membership. Also, it is the duty of every Master Mason
who is aware of something which would cause a
candidate to be unfit for membership, to inform
the Worshipful Master, so these things can be
verified or clarified, as the case may be. Be sure
that you are acting upon the square when you object to a candidate. It is the responsibility of every
member to exercise care in guarding the door of
Freemasonry. It is our duty as Masons, to jealously examine a candidate, for with his fitness for
membership rests the honor, glory, and reputation of our institution.
Every member and the Investigating Committee
is urged to constantly bear in mind that membership in the craft is much too priceless to be shared
without due consideration. So think and act for
the good of Masonry at all times.

Naval Navigators
Greetings Brethren,
Welcome to the Naval Navigators, a new association of Masons of Naval Lodge. This association is
meant to combine Masonic Formation with traditional philosophy in a casual, but challenging
atmosphere. It exists outside of our regular Naval
Lodge Masonic Formation Classes for a couple
of reasons, namely, it is not mandatory, and it
may not always relate to Masonry directly. It also
makes the demand that those who join will bring
insight, enthusiasm, and will participate in the
discussion and have their ideas challenged.

The idea for the Navigators was born of a desire
to provide more opportunities for those who
seek further light in Masonry, to follow the tenants of seven liberal arts and sciences, and to provide them with an intimate setting where discussion could occur freely – and frankly – to make
the participation exclusive to those who actually
wanted to join, as opposed to those who felt obligated. Most formation classes are in the form of

Rated R for strong violence/gore, sexuality, language and drug content
From Hell takes a strong stomach to watch due
to the subject matter, namely the legendary Jack
the Ripper.
His identity never determined, this movie explores one possible theory put forward which involves the Freemasons as acting co-conspirators.
There will be a brief presentation on the Jack the
Ripper before hand, and the movie itself runs 1
hour and 52 minutes.
Afterwards there will be a discussion about the
movie; whether we liked it or not (and why) and
whether the movie depicted Freemasons as good
or evil men.

Do you have items taking up space that you want to get rid of? There are outside as
well as inside spaces available and we’ll have hot dogs/hamburgers, snacks, and drinks
available for purchase.
You are in charge of your own sales and receipts, and all that is requested is a set donation for the space($15/space).
All proceeds from the event will be donated to “Masons 4Mitts”.
This charity provides baseball mitts to underprivileged children in the bay area.
