Theft Armour $5,000.00 Guarantee
Terms And Conditions
General: The Canada-West Assurance Company guarantees to the owner of the First Defence - Theft Armour system that when the vehicle described on the signed contract has the appropriate body panel labelling
with a Theft Armour identification number, (and marked with the Theft Armour warning stickers on both the driver’s window and the passenger window) that it will successfully deter theft of the vehicle for the Term of
Coverage selected on the contract.
Theft And Total Loss: If the First Defence - Theft Armour system fails to prevent theft and the vehicle is stolen, and then deemed a total loss by the registered owner’s insurance company, the registered owner will:
(1) Receive a $5,000 credit at the original selling dealership as an allowance to be used towards the purchase of a replacement vehicle or for goods and services offered at the selling dealership. The selling dealership is
defined as the Birchwood Automotive Group, and includes all vehicles represented, and all services offered. (2) Be reimbursed actual expenses up to $1,000 (including all taxes), for either a car rental (at a maximum of
$50/day) and/or accommodations (at a rate of $80/day for a maximum of 5 days) if the vehicle was stolen when the vehicle was parked more than 150 kilometres from the registered owner’s permanent address. (3) Be
reimbursed the home insurance deductible paid on claims involving property stolen from their vehicle, up to a maximum of $1,000.
Theft And Recovery: If the First Defence - Theft Armour system fails to prevent theft and the vehicle is stolen, and then recovered, the registered owner will: (1) Be reimbursed the comprehensive insurance
deductible paid for repairs on their vehicle, up to a maximum of $1,000. (2) Be reimbursed the home insurance deductible paid on claims involving property stolen from their recovered vehicle, up to a maximum of $1,000.
Cancellation: The First Defence - Theft Armour guarantee cannot be cancelled.
Transfer: The First Defence - Theft Armour guarantee may be transferred to a subsequent owner if no claims have been made. (1) Complete the TRANSFER OF COVERAGE section on the front of the contract. (2)
Mail a copy of the contract to The Canada-West Assurance Company. (3) Include a transfer fee of $35 (plus taxes) with the transfer request. The fee for transfer of coverage must be received within 30 days of the date
on the Bill of Sale and the new guarantee certificate (as outlined in the Date Transferred section).
Renewal: The First Defence - Theft Armour guarantee may be renewed for a second term identical to the original term, when no claims have been made. Renewals must be made before the expiry of the original term.
A new guarantee fee must be paid at the selling dealer, and a new guarantee must be submitted to The Canada-West Assurance Company.
Limitations Of Liability: (1) This guarantee is only valid when the vehicle has been purchased through an authorized automotive dealership, and the fee has been paid to The Canada-West Assurance Company
for registration. (2) This is a limited guarantee, The Canada-West Assurance Company will not be responsible for any incidental or consequential damages arising from theft of the vehicle, including but not limited to:
inconvenience, personal injury, property damage, commercial loss, or loss of life. (3) This guarantee does not provide coverage for any loss caused by misuse, abuse, or negligence (including leaving your vehicle unlocked
or with the keys in the vehicle while unattended). (4) The maximum aggregate benefit under this guarantee is $7,000, as detailed under the Theft and Total Loss section. (5) No payments will be made where the fee for
transfer of coverage was not received within 30 days of the date on the Bill of Sale and the new guarantee certificate, or where the renewal fee has not reached the Canada-West Assurance head office prior to the expiry
date. (6) Only one total loss claim per vehicle registration will be allowed. (7) No payments will be made where an insurance settlement has not yet been reached. All benefit payments are conditional upon the purchaser
utilizing all other reimbursements to which they are entitled through their home and/or auto insurance policies.
Claims Procedure
Theft And Total Loss: (1) Provide a copy of the most current vehicle registration for proof of ownership, and valid insurance. (2) Provide a copy of the police report indicating the date of the reported loss. (3) Provide
a copy of the insurance company’s final settlement cheque and proof of total loss including the date of loss, cause of loss, and the amount of final settlement. (4) Provide copies of all car rental, and/or accommodation
receipts. (5) Provide a copy of the home insurance company’s final settlement, outlining the total amount of the claim, and the deductible paid. (6) Mail copies of this information to The Canada-West Assurance Company,
Attention: Claims Department.
