Cricket Coaching Course
Wednesday 8th - Friday 10th April 2015
For players currently in Years 5-7
This Easter, Canford will host a 3-day specialist cricket coaching
course with the opportunity to play on Canford’s 1st XI pitch and
grass nets. The course is aimed at boys and girls in Years 5-7 who
are regular school and/or club players and are keen to further
develop their cricket skills ahead of the summer season. Canford’s
specialist coaching staff will provide clinics in the following core
areas of the sport:
Bowling
Batting
Each day there will be a full
programme of skill sessions. On
the final day, parents and friends are
invited to an afternoon of matches
including refreshments at the cricket
pavilion.
3 day course - £130 including lunch.
Early/late stay available - £5 per day.
Non-residential.
Places are limited to ensure
maximum quality coaching time.
Bookings are on a first come, first
served basis.

Specialist Coaches
Matt Keech
Matt is a qualified ECB tutor and former professional
cricketer. He joined Canford in 2012 having spent 12
years as a professional cricketer with Hampshire and
Middlesex. After retiring, he has coached at various clubs
around the world including teams in Australia and New
Zealand. Closer to home, Matt has been the 1st XI team
coach with Bournemouth University and is currently
Dorset Head Coach overseeing all youth cricket.
Julian Shackleton
Julian’s cricket career began at Gloucestershire CCC. He
played with them for eight seasons and was part of the
1977 cup winning Benson and Hedges side. After finishing
with Gloucestershire CCC, Julian joined Dorset CCC and
played with them until 2001. Whilst with Dorset CCC, he
joined Canford as a cricket coach and became an U19s
Dorset CCC coach. Presently, he still coaches this side
and also is the bowling coach for Dorset 1st XI.
Steven Ives
Steven is an ECB Level 2 coach and is experienced
coaching at county level. Prior to joining Canford, he
spent 21 years as Director of Sport at Castle Court
School, including 15 years as a 1st XI coach. He also
previously ran junior cricket coaching clinics for U13s.
Steven is part of the coaching team responsible for the
senior cricket sides at Canford.
Additional staff will be assisting the main coaches listed during the course.
