With the support of a highly collaborative community, the Bureau works to bring business and amateur sporting events to the region by leveraging the status and attributes associated with being the national capital. The Bureau is a not for profit association funded by the ACT government and industry partners. It is the pre-eminent public private partnership for delivering marketing, sales and advocacy that promotes Canberra as an exceptional business events destination. MARKETING: To position the Canberra region as the premier destination for target market conferences and events by; vents suppliers as Members of the Bureau. SALES: Identify key differentiators for target markets and prepare individually tailored city wide value propositions. ADVOCACY: Foster product development by articulating the economic contribution and value of our industry. Position Overview Reporting to the Board and as Chief Executive Officer, you will have the following key areas of focus: Key Results Areas Strategic Leadership and Advocacy In conjunction with the Board develop and implement the strategic plan of the Bureau and take action to strategically position the organisation to achieve its goals in relation to growing the Business Events industry in Canberra and the Region. Act as an effective media spokesperson for the organisation. Provide a coherent voice for members through the development of position statements and submissions and implementation of an advocacy strategy. Represent the organisation at government and industry forums and meetings to inform and influence the business events agenda across the ACT and Region. Effectively position the Canberra region as the premier destination for target market conferences, by leveraging the unique strengths of the national capital. Engage with Association of Australian Convention Bureaux & Tourism Australia to ensure Canberra Region is represented in the broader Australian and International context. Government and Stakeholder Engagement Develop and enhance partnerships with government, member and industry organisations to achieve strategic goals. Liaise and network with opinion leaders and decision makers to progress action on the key business objectives of the organisation. Foster positive relationships and strong links with members, government and key stakeholders. Organisational Management Maintain best practise business to business sales, and destination marketing practises. Oversee the effective management of finances and assets and work to improve the financial sustainability of the organisation. Develop and deliver ongoing revenue streams that support future organisational growth including the negotiation of funding agreements and growth in member and joint marketing income streams. Develop and maintain best practice human resource policies. Lead and develop the staff to ensure an effective workplace and culture. Implement a performance management framework to ensure the delivery of the required commercial outcomes. Facilitate and foster effective internal communications and a learning environment. Monitor and evaluate the quality of the work of the organisation and seek to continually improve processes and outcomes. Governance and Member Relations Ensure all the obligations of the Bureau in regard to the ACT Government Funding Agreement are met Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to achieve an unqualified audit of both the Financial Accounts and the Performance Measures Develop and maintain strong, professional and effective working relationship with the Board, ACT Government and Member organisations. Work to engage and build member value through quality services and programs. Support the Board Chair and Board to implement effective contemporary governance practices and fulfil their corporate, regulatory and fiduciary governance accountabilities. Facilitate and maintain effective member organisation communications. Builds and develops effective teams: The CEO will effectively lead teams and integrate new people into the organisation whilst creating a sense of commitment to organisational goals. They will allow staff to take responsibility for their own work whilst providing appropriate levels of supervision and feedback. They will provide a challenging and goal oriented environment whilst working with staff to develop and grow their skills and expertise. Member focus: The CEO will show a clear understanding of member needs, interests and concerns. They will demonstrate a proven entrepreneurial aptitude that has delivered valued outcomes for organisations and their respective customers. Marketing& Brand Promotion: The CEO will have the demonstrated capability in the area of marketing and brand promotion to enable development and implementation of strategic plans to achieve organisational plans. Communicator & motivator: The CEO will relate well to all kinds of people, building constructive and long term relationships. They will be persuasive and be able to energise, inspire and influence others. Clearly demonstrating expertise in relation to high level stakeholder and community engagement as well as representing the organisation through active brand management.
