May 8, 2015 Dear Parent/Guardian, “Be it done unto me according to your Word” Luke 1:38 With these words Mary accepted the vocation to be a parent, the mother of our Savior. Certainly, she was not aware of the blessings and sufferings she would receive because of her “Yes” to God’s invitation to her. However, she trusted, prayed, and lived her vocation in the best way she knew. As parents, each of you has responded to an invitation from God. Like Mary, you will encounter blessings and sufferings as you guide your children to adulthood. Do you trust in God, pray, and live your vocation to the fullest? Trust is not easy to practice. Parents have many worries about children and always want the best for them. Through regular prayer, parents can discern the best course to follow. You can realize the right choice, correct answer, wise words, and good example to offer your children. Sometimes you might not even recognize the hand of the Lord guiding you, but in prayer you come to trust Him and know He is always there with you. Live your vocation to the fullest! Enjoy your children and celebrate with them. Knowing you can never recapture time, budget it generously with your children. The hours you give them now, the times you laugh and cry together, will be fond memories you carry with you once they are grown. You are special people! Not everyone has been invited by God to share your vocation. May you recognize your specialness and say, “Yes” to God daily. Enjoy a Happy Mother’s Day with your family This week our school community is praying for Matthew Anzideo, Mrs. Walters, Cullen Keffer, the Coon family, Alice Rodgers, Valerie Dati, Dr. Mendez, Richard Gatewood, Conall Harvey, Patrick Cataldo, Maureen Sullivan, Jack Thistle, our second grade students from ABVM, who will receive their First Eucharist on Saturday, and for all those in need. Congratulations to our second grade students who are parishioners from St. Denis, who received their First Eucharist last Saturday. We are happy to have them as more active members of our church community. Last week we received notification from Holcomb Behavioral Health about Brianna Pennington, who was named the first place winner of the 2016 calendar contest. This week we learned that Andrew Konieczny, grade 6, was named the fourth place winner in the “6-8” category and Annalise Kubasko, grade 2, was named the third place winner in the “K-2” category. Our Ascension Thursday liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. We would like to thank all of our families for donating their time during the Fun Fair. We appreciate your support of this event since 50% of the proceeds go directly to the school. Thank you for your cooperation with regard to parking. We understand it is an inconvenience. The children are looking forward Friday. Below you will find information on this day. FUN FAIR DAY is scheduled for Friday, May 15. Our students in grades K to 8 would like to thank the Home and School Association for providing the funds for the students to enjoy this event. The children are asked to wear their gym uniforms on this day and bring a brown bag lunch. There will be no cafeteria services on this day. The schedule for the day is as follows: Kindergarten to grade 3 will enjoy the rides from 11:00 to 12:00 PM, followed by lunch. Grades 4 to 8 will enjoy the rides from 12:15 to 1:15PM, followed by lunch. Please talk with your child/ren about the number of times they can enjoy a ride. If your child decides to go on a ride 3 times, he or she cannot be surprised when becoming sick. We do not have the facilities to handle large number of students who are sick due to motion sickness. The Terra Nova test results will be mailed to our families next week. The final Home and School Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30 PM at Annunciation Parish Hall. At this meeting we will review the scores and provide an update on the school profile for the 2015-16 school year. Enjoy the remaining days of the Fun Fair! Sincerely, Mary Ann De Angelo Principal
