Job Opening: Program Director, Houston We are currently seeking an experienced and energetic Program Director to be the face of Globaloria and ensure success and learning in Globaloria’s largest urban setting: Houston, Texas. Globaloria is an award-‐winning blended-‐learning platform with courses in STEM, computing, game design and coding. Globaloria provides unparalleled in-‐person and virtual support to schools, teachers and students to ensure that classrooms are transformed into dynamic, hands-‐on, technology-‐infused learning labs. The full time Program Director will manage all crucial Globaloria program operations across Houston, with a particularly large implementation in Houston Independent School District, to ensure ongoing success and scalable growth in current and future participating schools. The Program Director will collaborate with a team of Classroom Support Specialists as field staff providing personalized support to every teacher. The Program Director is a member of the Globaloria staff, reporting to the Senior Director, South/Central. This position is based in Houston. Periodic travel is required to all participating schools and to the Globaloria headquarters in New York. Responsibilities • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Oversee Globaloria operations, providing direction and strategies for growth and implementation. Work with principals and educators to identify and overcome obstacles to success. Liaise with school and implementation partners to ensure the proper and timely preparation and collection of information, contracts and agreements Work with Senior Director to collaborate with high-‐level administrative staff to ensure strong buy-‐in and engagement Facilitate open and continuous two-‐way communication with administrators Manage the Classroom Support Specialists, who liaise directly with teachers, to provide mentorship and in-‐person and virtual support, and with students via the live help desk, and coordinate the receipt of that support. Provide support to schools onramping as part of the Globaloria program Report on progress to schools and the Globaloria team by collecting, aggregating and presenting data Promote Globaloria in superintendents’ meetings and principals’ meetings. Support the planning and coordination of summer in-‐person professional development academies for educators Coordinate Globaloria open-‐houses and Hackathons to expand student/parent/community involvement. Support regional Globaloria Game Design Competitions (Globeys), including Judge recruitment, Hackathons, and prize distribution Work with higher education institutions to accept Globaloria courses as college credits in technology areas, where possible. Access and maintain the Globaloria database of school, educators, and enrollment information. Manage relationships with researchers regarding surveys, other data, and site visits. Manage communications and awareness building around the Globaloria in Houston model to inspire others Support media and press efforts, including preparation and distribution of materials Be a brand ambassador Highly-‐qualified candidates will have some or all of the following skill set: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • 3-‐5 years experience in program management Experience integrating technology in education Experience working with educational institutions Experience working with youth Experience working with educators in professional development settings Excellent written, research, documentation skills Excellent communication and people skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong computer-‐usage skills (proficient in various Web and MS-‐Office Applications) Energetic, intelligent, and proactive individual Love for learning, self-‐learning, education and technology Ability to work independently and with a team Masters Degree preferred Teaching experience preferred
