Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition Outcome Goals Strategic Directions Mission Strategic Plan Map: 2014 – 2019 DRAFT The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy Coalition convenes individuals and organizations to innovate and advocate for a healthy, just, and resilient local food system. Develop, communicate, and continue to evolve a shared vision for a healthy and just local food system for all Cuyahoga County residents. 1: FPC is vital, inclusive, well managed and financially stable 1A: Create an 8-10 member Steering Committee comprised of diverse individuals and organizations Objectives 1B: Develop new organizational policies, decision making processes, and structures 1C: Develop new organizational structure that creates opportunities for stakeholders to propose policy and project ideas 1D: Grow and diversify revenue streams 1E: Assess staff levels, skills, and job descriptions to ensure effective implementation of framework Develop the Coalition’s leadership, structure, communications, and collaborative processes to cultivate the FPC’s vitality, inclusivity and financial stability. 2: FPC develops current and new leaders and organizational capacity for local food systems change. 2A: Conduct a “network analysis” in order to strengthen relationships with new and existing stakeholder organizations 2B: Invest in individual and organizational leadership training particularly in food systems policy, leadership, equity, and inclusion Significant progress made Some progress made 3:FPC has effective internal and external communication, knowledge management and dissemination systems 3A: Create a communication strategy that articulates activities, provides a common voice, and reinforces the goals and key messages of FPC 3B: Convene an action group with a communications consultant to review current strategies used, and develop recommendations for improved communication 3C: Coordinate quarterly forums that educate, orient, and engage members and develop a network of local food leaders Strengthen and expand FPC’s leadership and position as an inclusive and collaborative hub for food systems policy development, project innovation and new knowledge generation in Northeast Ohio. 4:Cuyahoga County residents have improved access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate local food in their neighborhood and communities 4A: Work with Countryside Conservancy to expand SNAP incentive program to eight new farmers markets in NEO by 2016 4B: Convene local and national leaders in a working conference to explore initiatives and policies that will improve access to healthy and affordable local food. Create an action plan that identifies the best strategies of the conference Leverage FPC’s successes and expand the impact of its innovative policies and programs to other interested communities in Cuyahoga County and Northeast Ohio. 5: Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) and at least 10% of Cuyahoga County schools have instituted regional food procurement initiatives, and healthy eating education programs 5A: Act as CMSD’s lead community partner in the School Food FOCUS Upper Midwest Regional Learning Lab (UMRLL) and support district’s procurement 5B: Co-Sponsor a School Food Showcase in partnership with School Food FOCUS for Northeast Ohio school districts 5C: Become a FoodCorps site for Northeast Ohio 6: A stronger, more developed Northeast Ohio supply chain and infrastructure that produces, aggregates, processes, and distributes regionally produced foods 6A: Expand reach to five Cuyahoga County communities to disseminate public policy that supports urban agriculture 6B: Convene coalition and supply chain stakeholders and to discuss role in advancing the recommendation s from the Sustainable Food Business Cluster Roadmap 6C: Identify role in supporting regional food economy and other food policy councils in NEO
