PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
As I write this final letter of the school year, the
weather is outstanding! I hope we have a summer
filled with nice weather that we can all enjoy with
friends and family. Please make sure to review the
upcoming dates in this newsletter.
In looking
ahead to next school year, we will host our 6th
Grade Open House on Tuesday, September 1 from
4:30 to 6:30. We will be having a 6th Gr. Student
Orientation on Wednesday, September 2 from
10:00-12:00. Our 7th/8th Grade Open House will be
held on Wednesday, September 2 from 4:30 to
6:30.
As we wrap up the 2014-2015 school year, I want
to make sure to give thanks to a few people. First,
thanks to Mrs. Bufalo, Mr. Lee, and Mrs. Hanson for
their long time service to the Coeur d’Alene School
District and best wishes to them in retirement. Mr.
Burchett is moving out of the area and Mrs. Tara
Nelson will be coming on board to take over Mr.
Burchett’s position. Mr. Prka is moving up to 8th
grade to take over for Mr. Lee in Earth Science. Ms.
Hinz is moving over to Mr. Prka’s 6th grade position
and we have hired Nicole Roth to take Ms. Hinz’s
math classes. Thanks to our outstanding PTA,
especially Susan Villelli, for stepping in and
covering the president position through the end of
the school year. Their time spent volunteering and
helping out monetarily is another factor in making
Canfield a great place to work. Finally, thanks to
all of our parents and families. We appreciate your
support of our school and sending us great
students to work with every day.

2015-2016 REGISTRATION
CONGRATULATIONS!
FOR STUDENTS PREVIOUSLY ENROLLED IN THE CDA
SCHOOL DISTRICT
Once again, the Coeur d’ Alene School District will offer
ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR THE (2015-2016) SCHOOL YEAR.
Parents found this to be easy, fast and convenient.
Online registration will be available on July 13th
To prepare for online registration:
1. If you already have a “User Name” and “User
Password” setup in Family Access then you are ready
to register once it opens.
2. If you do not have a “User Name” and “user
Password” in Family Access, email Kimber at
[email protected] after 7/20 and she will help
you get setup.
3. Parents can make changes anytime in Family Access
throughout the school year.
4. If you are new to the school district, you will
need to come to registration Tuesday August
25th.
NUTRITION SERVICES
“Free Summer Meals Program”
Summer break is here! Making sure our community’s
children receive healthy, well-balanced meals while
school is out is a high priority for School District 271.
Each year we partner with the U.S. Department of
Agriculture to provide free meals to children when
school is out for the summer. Any child aged 1 through
18 may come and eat for free. Adults eat for $2.25 at
breakfast and only $3.25 at lunch. This summer, meals
will be served at Fernan and Ramsey elementary
schools, Venture High School and the Hayden Center.
The program starts June 11th and runs thru August
21st. Exact dates and serving times may vary from
location to location. For more information on our

REQUIRED 7TH GRADE IMMUNIZATIONS

Immunizations required for 7th grade
The Tdap booster and Meningicoccal vaccine are required
for 7th grade. Please make sure that your child has proof
of these immunizations for registration in the fall.
If you have any questions regarding these please contact

Foster, for his performance at the 2015 Scripps
National Spelling Bee in Washington DC.
SUMMER ARTS FOR YOUTH 2015
Sign up for some exciting art-based classes in the
Summer Arts Program for Youth sponsored by the City of
Coeur d’ Alene Arts Commission. The program will be
held June 16-18, 23-25, June 30-July 2 and July 7-9 at
Harding Family Center at 411 N. 15th street in Coeur d’
Alene.
Classes available for ages 12-13 are Mosaic Art, Kitchen
Tweens, Yoga & Art of Mandalas, Mixed Media/Paper
crafting, Improv & Drama Tweens, Drawing &
Cartooning.
Classes for ages 12-16 are Guitar Basics, Kitchen Teens,
Improv & Drama Teens, Far Out Arts, Kids Yoga & Art of
Mandalas and Woodland Houses.
A variety of classes are also available for ages 5-12
Classes will be held from 9:30-11:30am, TuesdayThursday. The registration fee is $30 for each 3-day, 2hour class and includes supplies, snack and instruction.
Scholarships are available.

DONATIONS
Canfield Candy Expo earned $735.00 and Hat Day earned
$333.00 for a total of $1068.00 to donate to Greg Moore
Foundation.
Hoops for Hearts earned $977.00.
