Rachel Hawthorne has a keen interest in
strengths-based, experiential leadership learning
for youth, having successfully developed the
Hagley Leadership Laboratory programme and
delivery of professional development to other
educators in the area of building cultural
responsiveness and inclusiveness as part of
socially just, future focussed education.
Join us for an insightful seminar on Strengths
Based, Experiential Leadership Learning for
Youth where Rachel will share her insights and
expertise gained through recent research
(conducted in conjunction with The White
Elephant Trust) around youth perceptions and
practices of leadership as part of her Masters in
Educational Leadership.
Rachel Hawthorne
Rachel's background is in the education sector where she has worked as a secondary English
teacher, curriculum middle manager and pastoral dean, mainly at Hagley Community College in
Christchurch.
She developed the successful Hagley Leadership Laboratory programme, and has a keen interest
in strengths-based, experiential leadership learning for youth. She recently conducted research in
conjunction with The White Elephant Trust around youth perceptions and practices of leadership
as part of her Masters in Educational Leadership, and also has experience delivering professional
development to other educators in the area of building cultural responsiveness and inclusiveness
as part of socially just, future focussed education.

college car parks, you do not need a permit. To find room 104, enter at the main entrance, walk
straight on through reception, room 104 is the second teaching room on your left hand side.
