Special Education Administrator/Assistant Director
Compass High School is seeking an Assistant Director to provide oversight of school discipline,
school culture, and operations. Compass specializes in the education of students with learning
differences. It is truly a unique and rewarding place for educators to work with students with special
needs. Students are highly motivated with few behavior problems. The faculty is able to devote
themselves to teaching rather than paperwork or case management. Compass is a small school with
a high level of teamwork among its faculty. Parents are highly involved and supportive.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and expertise in the education of students with
learning differences, as well as the teaching strategies and curriculum suitable for these students.
Experience as a supervisor is also required. Ability to oversee general operations in the areas of
facility and technology a plus. We are looking for an administrator with excellent interpersonal skills
who can handle communication with parents, faculty, and students effectively. A California
Teaching Credential, a Pupil Personnel Credential, and/or a master’s degree in education or
counseling is preferred.
Compass High School is a nonprofit private school for students from diverse cultural and economic
backgrounds who have learning differences. The mission of Compass High School is to provide a
supportive, individualized program to help students develop their full academic potential. We focus
on learning strategies, social competence, and self-advocacy to give students the knowledge and selfconfidence they need to succeed. Compass High School is located in San Mateo.
