COLLEGE EXCURSIONS – PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES
From time to time it is necessary to revisit our College policies to ensure that
parents, staff and students are all aware of their responsibilities, to ensure the
College is able to run as smoothly as possible. This week, I would like to talk
about College excursions and how they are to operate.
Any excursion or sporting activity that takes our students out of the College,
requires the students’ parent or guardian to provide their consent via Compass
where available or by signing the form provided for their child to participate in the
activity. The College will at all times provide parents with as much information
about the activity as possible and as much notice as possible, via Compass.
However, sometimes when activities are organized by people outside of the
College, for example, inter-school sport, the timeline provided to the College can
be quite short.
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that a parent or guardian is provided
with such notifications at the earliest opportunity and that all relevant forms are
completed on Compass or returned to the College by the stated deadline, together
with any payments relevant to the activity. Payments and permission may be
processed through Compass prior to the due date.
All College activities require students to be in full College uniform when
representing the College or participating in extra curricular activities. The
information/permission forms will clearly indicate occasions when students are
required to be in their sports uniform.
On most occasions, students will leave from the College and be returned to the
College at the conclusion of the activity. This enables the College to exercise its
duty of care to students. The exception being, those activities where students will
meet teachers at Hallam Railway Station in the morning and will be dismissed
from Hallam Railway Station at the end of the activity.
Should the activity conclude earlier and students return to the College prior to
their expected return time, students will be supervised at the College by those
teachers accompanying the activity until the normal finish to the school day at
3.08.

LEARN ABOUT YOURSELF!
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in
having new eyes”. (Marcel Proust, 19th century novelist)
Volunteer to host an international high school student through Southern Cross
Cultural Exchange and prepare to be amazed at how this unique and rewarding
experience can help bring your family together, understand themselves better and
see the world in a new light.
We have students aged 15-18 arriving from France, Germany, Italy, Spain and
Scandinavia in July 2015 who are seeking welcoming families all over Australia, in
both rural and urban communities. They will live like a local, attend a local
secondary school, arrive with their own spending money and comprehensive
insurance cover – all arranged by Southern Cross Cultural Exchange.
