MissusSmartyPants.com Personal Profile for Body Type A Volume 8 Issue 2 – January 10, 2013 MissusSmartyPants loves shopping for you! This week’s style inspiration is from …Macy’s Shirts & Tops Sleeveless shirts should have straps that are wider. Avoid thin spaghetti straps. If shoulders are square and broad—try a raglan sleeve (set in at a diagonal to soften shoulders). Tailored shirts add structure which will give you the appearance of having more curves. A wrap top or other tops with diagonal lines are flattering on you. Shirts with a narrow V neckline are flattering and minimize wide shoulders. Avoid: any detailing at your shoulder area; puffed sleeves; epaulettes and boat-neck shirts. To minimize wide shoulders select shirts in a darker color than bottoms. (also helps to minimize a full bust) Try shirt with soft curves, ruffles or other feminine touches to soften your straighter lines. For an undefined waist try Spanx Hide & Sleek Camisole The Latest NY Collection Top, Three-Quarter-Sleeve Ponte-Knit Peplum DKNY Jeans Top, Long-Sleeve Ruched V-Neck Alfani Top, ThreeQuarter-Sleeve Dolman Printed INC International Concepts Top, LongSleeve Floral-Print Ruched MSP Says... Also, use these guidelines when deciding what to keep in your wardrobe. These sites and clothes are chosen with your body type in mind. Remember fit is essential, NOT label size. Bottoms A's have many choices of pant styles. It's more a matter of personal preference. Good choices are any pants with embellishments: pockets, chains, zippers, appliqués. A's can wear slim pants to wide palazzo pants. An excellent choice is a slightly flared pant. It helps balance out your wider shoulders. Belted pants show off slim hips and add some curves. If your waist is short, keep pants lower on hips, and use a monochromatic (matching) belt. If waist is long, pants may come up higher and give a look of a more rounded bottom. If bottom is small or flat, try flap pockets or no pockets for more roundness. Try Spanx Power Panty w/ Tummy Control under slinky pants and skirts. The Latest Style&co. Choose jackets that are single breasted--stopping from the high hip to low hip. A good quality jacket or sweater can add structure and shape to your silhouette. Jackets with detailing on the pockets at hips draw attention to your slender frame. Jackets that are excellent choices for A's include: peplum (flair out at hips) and jackets with tie-belts (military, safari styles). Sweaters are great for layering with a formfitting longer top underneath. So many choices it’s insane! But choosing the right shoes shouldn’t make you crazy if you follow the Missus Smarty Pants guidelines. If The Shoe Fits. Shoes must be comfortable! Look for stores that offer narrow or wider widths to properly accommodate your specific needs. Also, shop later in the day when your feet are at their largest. Shoes that fit well are ones that you will grab and wear again and again. Choose Your Lifestyle. Choose shoes that fit your lifestyle. If you work in a professional business setting, you will need more shoes to fit in this category. If you are a SAHM (stay at home mom) you will need more shoes that are casual in nature. Remember the object is to show your style; so not just 4 pairs of white tennis shoes! Take Shape. Take your body shape into account. Short/petite- 2 ½” to 3” heels maximum. Beyond this you will look like you are walking on stilts and leaning forward. Thick/full ankles- Avoid any shoe that has ankle straps. This draws attention to wide ankles with the horizontal line of the strap. Opt for pumps, sling backs and other slip-on styles. Curvy to Full Fashion Gals- Go easy on the skinny high heels. This look only highlights that you are thicker in stature. Instead, wear a shoe that is 2 to 2 ½” with a stacked heel. This will even out your proportions better.
