The primary goal of WorkCenters is to improve the effectiveness of end-users by consolidating user tasks, exceptions, alerts, links, reports and queries into a single, secure, role-based “command center.” Analytics Reports Search Centralized Workstation Decentralized Job Process Tools Navigation Transactions WorkCenters are configurable PeopleSoft pages that enable key roles within a business process to conduct transactions, take action on alerts and view reports and analytics from one central location What is a WorkCenter? BENEFITS OF USING A WORKCENTER One Stop Shop Ease of Deployment Dashboards Role Driven Improved User Experience WorkCenters KEY COMPONENTS A WorkCenter contains two main components: (1) a navigation area , or task panel of pagelets, that link to content, and (2) a transactional work area of content targeted from the navigation area. Work Area 11 Implementation DEPLOYMENT APPROACH When determining a setup approach for a WorkCenter, there are several factors you should consider. Delivered as Sample Config Data Design, Configure, Test Migrate to Production • WorkCenters are only delivered as Sample Configuration Data within a demo environment • Move to a test environment for refinement/configuration/testing • The newly configured and tested WorkCenter can be migrated to Production with the Data Migration Workbench © 2014 Huron Consulting Group. Modifying a delivered, module-specific WorkCenter Create a new WorkCenter WorkCenters HISTORY AND AVAILABILITY Representative List of Delivered My Work Pages Grants Management Contracts Billing Receivables • Contracts Set to Expire • Milestones Due • Posted Budget Amount <> Billing Limit • Billing Events Not Processed • Closed Projects With Open Projects • Billing Events Requiring User Action • Billing Interface Errors • Combo Edit Errors • Invoices Entered Today • Invoices Not Finalized • Bills • Conversations To Review • Deposit Balancing Errors Pagelets can be leveraged to configure new pages utilizing delivered WorkCenter functionality. © 2014 Huron Consulting Group. Development History 8.51 Initially developed in PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal utilizing pagelets created by developers using templates, PeopleCode & Pagelet Wizard to simplify tasks at hand 8.52 Introduced pure configuration-based WorkCenters; added support for homepage pagelets, partial refresh in component based pagelets 8.53 Improved on design and use (configuration vs. development) © 2014 Huron Consulting Group.
