Things to make and do Sending a handmade Easter card to your family or friends is the perfect way to let them know you are thinking of them this Easter. 2 1 3 De and sign a gr make eeti card ngs 4 5 7 6 What you need: • scissors • glue • card blanks Instructions: 1. Cut out the body parts numbered 1 to 7. 2. Stick the chick’s body on a card blan k. 3. Stick the beak, feet, wing, eyes, hair and legs on. 4. Cut out the ‘Tweet Tweet’ bubble and stick on the card blank. Safety first This project requires the use of scissors. Make sure you get help from an adult. 2. Things to make and do A movie takes a story and brings it to life, so get your creative juices flowing and make a movie on a subject that interests you. Instructions: Ma vide ke a sub o on a inte ject tha rest t s yo u 1. Decide on your story and write a script . Think of an interesting subject. It is easier to write and you are passionate. A script outlines every direct a video if place in your video from sounds and smel thing that takes ls, to dialogue and behaviour. 2. Nominate your cast, arrange your prop s and on your filming location. How many chara decide cters are in your video? Can your family and friends help the various parts? Props and costumes can by acting make all the difference to a video; they can change a story from makebelieve to seemingly real. Where will you be filming your video? If your video takes place outside reme mber to take the weather into account. If a location is too dark or too light this will affect your video. 3. Organise your music and sound effec ts. Decide on what and when you want your background and sound effects. It is a good idea to build this into your script . Pre-record music and sound effects from the TV or radio and play during the relevant times in your video. 4. Have fun with visual effects. Need to build monster or spaceship? Why not film a mon a life-size person in a costume among miniature cars ster teddy or house? This will make the monster appear or even a dolls bigger than it is. 5. Practice makes perfect. Run through your start to finish without filming. It is a good entire video from a number of times to ensure that when youidea to do this start filming there is less chance of having to retake. Reme mber to time your film. If it is too long, look to cut out sections. 6. Start filming. Borrow a camera from an adult the camera battery is fully charged and you . Things to make and do Photo collages are perfect for displaying photographs or images of your family and friends, your favourite holiday or simply on a subject that interests or inspires you. Decide on a subject or topic that inter ests you. Do you love animals or space, the great outdoors or fantasy creatures? 2. Find and collect images and words that show or represent your topic. Make sure you get permission from an adult before cutting up photogra phs and magazines. 3. Layout your images on your A1 card , placing them where you want them to go before glue ing in place. 4. Sp cupcring akes What you need: • your favourite cupcake recipe • white cream and black icing • piping bag • edible glue • knife* Instructions: rst Safety ofi u get help y Make sure dult when from an a en. ov using the 1. B ake a batch of your favourite cupcakes and allow to cool. 2. Use the black icing to make the shee p head and ears. 3. Make the sheep’s eyes out of the whit e icing. Attach to face using the edible glue . 4. Taking care, use a knife to make the mouth. 5. Prepare the piping bag and cream icing . Start from the outside in, making small swirls to create the ‘wooly’ look. 6. Finish of by piping three wooly balls on top the head. 7. There are many customs associated with Easter Day that involve eggs. A sk an adult to help you make a small hole in one end of the oval box just belo w the lid. 2. Paint the box and the lid white and leave to dry. 3. Use the black chenille stems to make the legs and glue them to the bottom of the box. 4. Use the white chenille stems to mak e the tail. 5. Glue half a white pompom onto an eggshaped black pompom for the head. 6. Make the ears out of the black card and stick the wobbly eyes. 7. Your Spring box is finished. 6. Why not use tracing paper (or greasepro of paper) to trace the design? 3. Outline your pencil drawing / tracing with a black felt tip pen. 4. Colour in your rabbit. 5.
