OKTOBERFEST 2013 WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS SESSION CODE WORKSHOP NAME/DESCRIPTION SUPPLIES NEEDED SESSION 1 - Saturday 9:15 a.m. -10:45 a.m. 1-101 RECYCLED FLOWER BOX CENTERPIECE Flower Box made from Clementine box, yogurt containers, fabric scraps. Microwave trays make a lovely center piece, window box, desk display. Flowers will be made of fabric. 1-102 Scissors, old candle sticks, glue gun (optional). Clementine box, paper egg carton, dryer lint, used dryer sheet, plastic knife. LAY YOUR CARDS ON THE TABLE None Find a unique way to make a personal keepsake using a deck of cards! You will easily be able to create this again for your family, friends, etc. No cutting, no scissors, no glue! You will be amazed at what turns out. 1-103 ADVANCED FRIENDSHIP BRACELET Learn to make friendship bracelets with more intricate stitches and designs. With guidance, you will learn to create one of the hottest bracelets. 1-104 Clipboard or friendship bracelet maker (if you came to the workshop last year). Scissors, one straight pin and booklet from last year will help with some of the patterns. If you have a preference of string, bring it, if you wish. MALA MEDITATION BEAD MAKING WORKSHOP We will review the history and use of Mala beads. You will learn to make None the Mala's and learn the meaning of the beads. You will learn the Mantras, song, and end with a brief meditation. 1-105 PAPER PINE CONE ORNAMENTS Participants will learn how to make a beautiful ornament for Christmas or None other occasions using Styrofoam egg, scrapbook paper, pins and ribbon. You will have your choice of paper. 1-106 SWAPPING the GREAT WHITE WAY Participants will learn about the History of SWAPS in Girl Scouting. Participants will work at their own pace to create a variety of Broadway Show Theme swaps. Kit and booklet included. None 1-107 TRAVELING AROUND THE WORLD Paper, pen or pencil If you need ideas for Thinking Day or an International Day this is the workshop for you. We will be traveling to France, Egypt, China, Greece and Mexico. Come learn a dance, song, story or do a craft. Handouts and CD will be provided. None GLOBAL GIRL SCOUT ACTION AWARD for SENIOR and AMBASSADORS An exciting way for Seniors and Ambassadors to participate in realizing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals that are aimed at reducing poverty, and impact major world concerns. Girls $1.25 for Patch. 2-207 TRADITIONAL CEREMONIES Paper, pen or pencil (optional - Ceremonies Book) The importance of Girl Scout Ceremonies. What is an Investiture Ceremony? A Bridging Ceremony? SESSION 3 - Saturday 1:50 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. 3-301 GAMES AND MORE GAMES Games for rainy days, sunny days, quiet, loud, old and new games. Lots of fun and appropriate for all groups. 3-302 Enthusiasm, a smile and a newspaper. YOUR NAME IN LIGHTS This scrapbooking workshop is here to make a book all about "YOU". You Photos of yourself (no more than 15) can design your very own scrapbook for when the paparazzi come knocking at your door. 3-303 OPEN YOUR EYES TO NATURE You're out at camp, how do you share with the girls what to look for and Hat or bandana why it is important to enjoy and cherish the earth. 3-304 3D ORIGAMI PAPER FLOWERS Create beautiful Origami Flowers. None SESSION 4 - Saturday 3:40 p.m. - 5:10 p.m. 4-401 JUNIOR GIRL SCOUTS FROM BEGINNING TO END Paper, pen or pencil If you are new leaders or new to the Junior level you will find this workshop useful. We will discuss how to plan with the girls input, badges, trips, service projects and working on the Journey's. We will also discuss how to create a Bronze award take action project that results in an impact even after your initial work. 4-402 DUCT TAPE FLOWER ART Make a duct tape flower using multi-petal folded Origami technique that Exacto knife or blade cutting tool. can be attached to duct tape flower pen or ring. 4-403 NAUTICAL PICTURE FRAMES Sand, shells, beach glass, frame, glue, your imagination and you have a beautiful frame. 4-404 DE'COUPAGE MEMORY BOX Capture those awesome and unforgettable memories by creating decoupage on a hinged box. Use your imagination to create a dazzling and standout decorative box that will last a lifetime. The classic art of decoupage at it's best. 4-405 Scissors, tweezers, 2 pictures (4 x 6, 5 x 5 or 4 x 4). Stickers (1 package) to coordinate with picture.
