A conference to promote peace through health, a healthy sustainable environment
and turning marginalized communities around the world and in Canada into healthy ones.
PEGASUS, a three-day conference aiming to advance awareness and knowledge on Peace, Global Health and SUStainability will
be held in Toronto the second weekend of May 2016. This event, cosponsored by Canadian Physicians for Research and
Education in Peace (C-PREP) and Physicians for Global Survival (PGS), draws on ‘glocal’ perspectives seeking to offer
long-term strategies and uniting all stakeholders towards solving local and global problems.
The conference mission aligns with those of PGS and C-PREP – the prevention of war, the promotion of non-violent means of conflict
resolution, the attainment of social justice in a sustainable world (the underpinning of global health) and a fostering a culture of peace.
PEGASUS will advance these concepts, understanding that direct structural and cultural peace and sustainability are at their nexus:
health. The critical links between health, education, equity, poverty, the environment and development will be established through our
participatory conference design bringing together a diverse community of partners and stakeholders. Building on the momentum and
critical linkages, our task is to engage the next generation of leaders and to advance awareness and knowledge
of global health issues through a lens of peace and sustainability locally and abroad. PEGASUS is meant to build
on research and evidence, to suggest policy change, develop education around sustainable solutions and advocacy strategies.
JOIN US and encourage others to attend too for this follow on conference as we bring together students, health professionals, policy
makers, researchers, advocates and a fascinating array of speakers from the Global North and South, political leaders, researchers,
advocates and change-makers. For information about our organization, go to www.cprep.ca
Sincerely,
