Membership Profile:
Ted Lazar
In this issue of the Y-City Moose Newsletter, our member profile features David "Ted"
Lazar. Ted and his lovely, charming wife,
Janice were married June 6, 1965. They are
the parents of daughter, Shala (39) and the
proud grandparents of two grandchildren:
Brittany, age 14 and Levi, age 12. Mr. Lazar
retired from General Electric in 1997, and is
currently employed by Fink's used cars. He
is also a long-time volunteer for the South
Zanesville Fire Department, having served
with the unit for fifty-one years.
Ted joined the Zanesville Lodge, Loyal Order of Moose, in March 2002, sponsored by
his friend, brother Chuck Winsor. Since joining, he quickly became an active, involved
member. Mr. Lazar served as Trustee of
Lodge 867, chairman of the Lodge's Moose

Chapter News
(Continued from page 1)
Our chapter has been
very busy with several
projects this past month.
Legion and Sergeant-at-Arms of the Golden Moose. He is also the Community Service Chairman of District 13.
Brother Ted is proud that our Lodge is addressing the smoking issue by
installing new fans and assigning non-smoking areas on busy nights. Also,
Ted mentions that one of his most memorable experiences since becoming
a member was being a contestant in the Miss Moose Pageant. As he states,
"What a night!. I have never been hit on by guys before."
To encourage membership in the Lodge, Ted says that current members
need to bring prospective members in for a visit, and when they realize how
friendly everyone is, they will want to join. He states that when we have a
new member, we need to encourage him to come to meetings and to get
involved. The success of our fraternity is dependent upon the willingness of
our brothers to commit to the Lodge's well being.
In his spare time, Ted enjoys being on the South Zanesville Fire Department, restoring vintage automobiles and attending car shows.
We of LOOM Lodge 867 thank you Ted for all you have done and continue to do for us. Your dedication and unselfish giving of your time and
energy is truly appreciated.

Moose Legion News
"To Do Some Good Thing For
Someone Each Day"
I would like to welcome Bunk
Strauss as our Lodge's newest
Moose Legionnaire. Bunk was enrolled in the Moose Legion at the
Summer Celebration at Newcomerstown Sunday July 9th. Also, welcome back former members Allen
Brown, Steve Knaup and Mike
Makin. And Bill Secrest and Jim
Wisecarver will become full-fledged
Moose Legionnaires as soon as
they are enrolled.
We are constantly trying to add
activities and benefits for our local
Moose Legion members. Sunday
September 10th, there will be a
Moose Hopper trip, which is free for
Moose Legionnaires and a guest.
We will visit several Lodges, drink
their beverages, buy their tickets

and take their money.
If a member attends
our monthly meeting, he
will receive two free
drink tickets. And if he
brings his wife or girlfriend they get
drink tickets too. A member can
receive his dues back in free drink
tickets by attending just a few meetings. Then there is the (No Cap)
monthly drawing only for Moose
Legion Members and their significant other. If no one wins this
month, the pot grows for next
month.
Any former member may re-join
the Moose Legion for a limited time
without paying the $10.00 reenrollment fee.
Just pay your
$15.00 dues and you're back in.
As is evident from the above information, we want new Moose Legion members and we want our former members back.
Any good
We had a very successful Chinese
Auction. We have also made plans
for Sparky the Fire Dog and the
Smoke House to be at the Lodge picnic for the enjoyment and education
of the children and their families.
Our co-worker for July is Tia Hiles.
We will be going to Convention this
month. Jr. Grad Regent, Mary Ann
Winsor will be receiving her green
cap at this years festivities.
Our Chapter has received our notification that we have received our
Award of Achievement. Of course,
we were very happy to get that news.
I hope to see everyone at the picnic
for good fun, good food and good
friends.

Building Fund Progress
Zanesville Wins Attendance Award
The total pledged to the New Building Fund is
now 86,139.50. This is an increase of $820.25
since the July Moose Letter.
We asked you to do it, and you did it. Sixteen men and seventeen ladies from Zanesville's Moose Lodge traveled to Coshocton
for the final District 13 meeting of the year, and claimed
the "Traveling Attendance Award" for Zanesville for the seventh
consecutive year. Many comments were made that you made
this the most successful District 13 meeting anyone could remember. This just proves that our members can and will get the job
done.

Thanks for the continued support.
I wish to thank Bonnie Martin, Betty

July 9th. I do appreciate your time and effort.
Brick Special for August and September
During the months of August and September, if
you have already purchased and paid
for one Inscribed Brick you may purchase another one for $75.00. If you have bought two or
more, you may buy another one for $60.00.
This special is good for these months only.
We have also resumed our monthly 1/2 &
1/2. Drawings will be on the last Sunday of
each month. Tickets are available at the bar.
The seller of the winning ticket receives 10% off
the top. If you want a chance at the 10% by
selling some tickets, see me.
The second phase of the $100 Club is due to
start August 6, 2006, if we sell
enough Memberships. There is a one time $10
fee for a Membership. Each member will be
entered in a $100.00 drawing each Sunday for
25 weeks. We need to sell a lot more Memberships if this is going to go. So, if you've been
waiting till the last minute, it is now the last minute. If not enough Memberships are sold to run
this project, all money will be refunded.
There will be no New Building
Fund planning meeting in August.

MOOSE LEGION
MOOSE HOPPER BUS TRIP
Sunday September 10, 2006
Zanesville – Cambridge – Caldwell –
Marietta –Malta / McConnelsville – Zanesville
The Coshocton members provided a great District 13 picnic for
all to enjoy. No one went home hungry. It was a really hot
day but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We even had
several of our Moose Riders hop on their bikes and make the trip.
Several Convention issues were resolved and the Joe Batross
Chinese Auction netted $200.00 for the District Child Relief Fund.
The first 2006 - 2007 OSMA District 13 Meeting will be Sunday,
September 17th at our own Zanesville Lodge. The Officer's meeting is 1:00 pm with the Membership meeting following at 1:30 pm.
It would be great to have another great turnout to
get us on our way to another Annual Attendance
Award. What do you think? Are we up to it?
Can we make it eight years in a row? A free
meal will be provided for all in attendance.
Moose Rider’s Scholarship Open
The Moose Rider’s election of officers was held at the June 4th
meeting. The officers elected are as follows:
President
Phil Trout
Vice President
Barb Beddard
Secretary
Sandy Baughman
Treasurer
Tom Davy
Freddie Knaup Memorial Scholarship applications are available
and need to be returned to a Moose Rider or a Moose officer by
the end of August. The scholarship is for any Moose member, or
family member of a Moose member in good standing in our
Lodge. The applicant must have completed high school and be
enrolled to some type of school in the fall. The scholarship is paid
in two payments, one for fall and one for winter quarters or semesters.
We will also be raffling off a digital camera in August.
The Moose Riders will be having their 3rd Annual Freddie Knaup
Poker Run on September 9th.
The first bike out will be at 11:00 am, the last
bike out at 1:00 pm with all bikes back by 5:00
pm. The winner receives $1,000 for best hand.
This open to any type of vehicle. You don’t have
to have a bike, but you must run the Poker Run
or be working the Poker Run to get in the run.
We will be having raffles, games, food, ½ & ½
and THE ONE AND ONLY DJ COREY DAVIS.
This is always a great time for everyone so
come and enjoy the day and evening.
