LifeLiner® Hopper System Elgin LifeLiner ® Hopper System The Elgin LifeLiner hopper system is a specially designed hopper liner and finish system that greatly improves the life, durability, and functionality of a sweeper hopper. LifeLiner is a proprietary polyurethane coating that is more wear resistant than stainless steel and extremely resistant to most chemicals. It is incredibly durable and will stand up to the most abrasive debris — and the surface finish inside the hopper is extremely smooth and slick, making dumping and cleanup easier. The LifeLiner hopper system is an option on all Elgin Sweeper products. It has been tested against other popular hopper options and found to be almost 600% or 6 times more durable than stainless steel. Abrasion Wear Test The purpose of the test was to simulate the wear that occurs in a sweeper debris body over time, being subjected to highly abrasive materials at high velocities. Each sample was measured and weighed before the test with a triple beam balance scale to verify sample size. The time to wear through each sample plate was charted as an indicator of the amount of abrasion resistance. The abrasive material used for the test was a 70 grit aluminum oxide (one of the most abrasive materials to use). The blast nozzle was located three inches from the test piece and 90 degrees to the face of the test piece. The air flow rate to the blast gun was approximately 22 CFM at 90 PSI. The blast tip had a 13/64 diameter orifice, and the tip was changed as needed due to wear.
